I hope no one thought I was criticising/abusing Kevin? I respect his judgement and I think he's doing an excellent job with his Dels website. I guess I was just wondering whether I was the only webmaster who worried about this and I was also curious about whether other fans thought webmasters should try to draw a line. It's been interesting to read your thoughts on the topic. I used to be on a Big Country mailing list which was taken over by some fan who decided he'd behave like a smarmy publicity person once he was put in contact with the bands management. He would hype some announcement for a week before actually telling us something minor. He came across as a complete dick and it really ruined the relaxed atmosphere on the list so I unsubscribed soon after. I'd hate to cross the line he crossed without realising it. BTW I've been lurking on this list for a couple of years and is it one of the best of the various lists I subscribe to. It's a great little community and everyone should take a little bow. later! LOL! WHEN it finally gets up again! I started this re-write thinking it would take a few weeks, but god knows how many versions later, I'm finally there with it and just finishing off the content. Also I've had to make a few changes due to Delfan (for those who don't know, Delfan will be like the Del Amitri Fan club that never was). Anyway, back to the grindstone... Very rough and ready with not all the lyrics complete, but the titles are there. 'Look at me baby', 'Underwater man' and 'Barstool Confessions'. We all think the first one is particularly naff but can't really think of anything else to call it. I don't know if this message will get anywhere, or not (relative newcomer and always quiet, so far), but here goes: So, I'm not the only one who thought they were great then? I went straight out to buy "Waiting" when the shops opened the day after the gig I saw in Hull. I wasn't disappointed...until I went to try to buy the first album they'd also played tracks from and found it'd been withdrawn (or whatever the jargon is)! Can't wait to hear the new album, I've only just discovered their website and ordered "Drift" (1st album). On a Dels note, the album title's crap, but until the recent debates I've never thought about any album title before, so it won't make any difference to me. Thanks to everyone for making my computer a more interesting place to go to, I love being able to look forward to the latest instalments. Not only that, but even though I've only ever been a silent observer before now, it feels like you're friends, especially through the recent tragic events. There you go, a nice short e-mail to start you off, there'll be no stopping me now I've done it once! But before I go, must mention CTBF is excellent, as is the whole of SOSP (except maybe Not Where It's At), in fact, there's no point in this cause I can't think of a song after the first album that I'm not completely enamoured with. If all you guys (with great taste, I must add) are raving about the Devlins, well, I'm just going to have to put them on my wish list! Oh, and you're right, Kirsten, the people on this list are very nice, friendly, folks. This is one of (if not) the best e-mail lists I've been on. As far as the title of the new album, well, it didn't immediately strike me as a "pimp daddy" thing to say, but it certainly could have been a much, much better (or worse, ack!) title. I guess it makes a difference if you concentrate on just the "do me" part or not. LOL I can't wait to hear the new album and if I'm lucky, see the guys play live! I haven't had that pleasure in far too long. Anyway, Kirsten, don't you go back into lurk mode now, you've got your toes wet now, so just jump on into the pool. :-) Have a happy day, debbie - --- Kirsten Mayor wrote: > > Anyone who saw the Dels on their 98 UK tour may > remember the Devlins. > > I don't know if this message will get anywhere, or > not (relative newcomer > and always quiet, so far), but here goes: > > So, I'm not the only one who thought they were great > then? I will definitely order the album and single. Anyone looking for the Devlins' first album, Drift, should check out www.half.com. As someone who survives on royalties, I hate to recommend anyone buy anything used, but since this one's out of print, it's okay . . . and they've got copies there starting at just 75 cents. I finished my new book today--yay! (All except one phrase that I need translated into Latin--if anyone on this list knows Latin, I want to talk to you!) Sorry I haven't posted in so long, but I HAVE been reading everyone's notes, and I hope to be able to participate more now that I've come out of my deadline cave. Kevin, I never mind hearing your opinions even though I'm insanely jealous you've heard the album and I haven't. For the record, I don't like the album title, either. My husband says the punctuation is wrong . . . it should be: "Can you do me? Good!"
