I've been a friend of Clive's since 1985 and have been a fan since his days as leader of Any Trouble, the seminal pub rock band. (Several of the albums are available on CD). He was also a member of the Richard Thompson Band from 84-87. It was Gregson and Collister who introduced me to the Dels in 1989. Both were doing gigs in Washington DC the same night and Clive and Chris actually announced to the crowd that they were cutting their show so they could go see the Dels and invited everyone to come along! We got their just in time to see Justin hanging from the rafters while singing "You Can't always get What You Want/jimmy Blue." I was hooked. I wanted everyone to know that Clive is currently on his first US Tour in 5 years. Here's the agenda: Sept 18: Philadelphia, PA Tin Angel Sept 19: Sykesville, MD Baldwin Station Sept 25: Davis, CA Palms Playhouse Sept 26: Berkeley, CA Freight & Salvage Sept 28: Santa Monica, CA McCabes Sept 29: Portland, OR St Johns Pub Sept 30: Seattle, WA Tractor Tavern Oct 01: Bellingham, WA House Concert www.clivegregson.com I'll be at the Sykesville show. This is a sign that life goes on - there IS HOPE for the future - do not despair. This is almost bigger than we can comprehend in several ways, but as my favorite teacher once said 'seek, and you will find; knock, and that door will be opened.' I'm pushing my way in right now - how bout you?! Ask why! Seek answers! Pray for understanding and peace. There was a time when I used to feel the same way as Iain, but fortunately a friend of mine had a baby last year and this event has made me change my mind on the matter. I think Espen's comment quite apt at this point, and I'm sure a person like Iain, who can make such wonderful music, won't be feeling this way for much longer. So, also hoping Iain will get to read this, CONGRATULATIONS, man!!!! From a loving fan in Madrid, Spain. Cris. Date: Thu, 13 Sep 2001 09:59:04 +0200 From: Espen Kvalheim Subject: Re: OV: good news in the midst I became a father in February, and I feel convinced that this forms a large part of my strong reaction to the events in the US. There is one thing that gives me comfort, though. Having brought a child into this world, I'm now more determined than ever to pour all my love into raising him. Only then can we balance out all the mindless hate and cruelty in the world, and by the timing of little Louis Harvie, it looks like this little child has its mind set on the task. So Iain (hoping you get to read this): Sane, caring people should never think twice about having children - we need every one of them. That's a sad comment about the world. Even so, nothing prepares you for something as monumental as this. The only thing it has proved to me, as I always do, is live for today. I have potentially lost 3 of my best working relationship colleagues whom I deal with almost daily and have socialised with frequently as well as several others whom I have come to know less frequently at a partner company potentially wiped out in WTC. We've had no contact from their homes, despite messages left on their answer machines. My best mate's mother, staying on holiday in downtown Manhattan is "missing" too. This hopefully is just a communication problem as he's not sure what hotel she was staying in etc but he's beside himself currently which is understandable. It just brings it all horribly to life. This hasn't just changed America, it's changed our world. My thoughts to all those over the pond on this list and everyone elsewhere effected, no matter how great or small, we're all with you. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Sep 2001 01:54:38 EDT From: NIGELBLUES@aol.com Subject: OV: Re: CYDMG? I am venting and you can delete this obviously at any time but I need to get this out. I have been staring at the TV for three days and luckily all of my loved ones in NYC I have had some contact with, but to the thousands, THOUSANDS! in one hour that have been stricken by obvious cowards I offer any thing that I can posibbly give. I live in a small town on the east coast and I just found out that at least two of the hijackers could have been living here for the past few months. Local police found one of their cars.
