We have to make sure that the album sells well on both sides of the Atlantic. And I know that in the UK www.hmv.co.uk counts towards UK chart position, and I'm pretty certain I was told that www.amazon.co.uk does too >> www.amazon.co.uk does count. Part of the reason why The Strokes outstanding debut album (which despite the hype - by NME especially - genuinely is the mutts nuts) went straight in at No 2 was it had the highest ever advance orders on amazon.uk As regards future Dels album sales, we all know the documented label problems, but part of the problem they are a forgotten band is they have done no work or promotion. They should have played a few gigs, some radio sessions and I hope they still do. Our orders won't get them anywhere, it's their hard work that will achieve that. All the Welsh groups -Manics, Stereophonics, Super Furry Animals, Catatonia - have record signing sessions in Cardiff at midnight Sunday when new albums are released and then other Welsh stores too. They shift a few thousand copies almost immediately. Maybe Dels should perform a similar launch back in Scotland and maybe Tower in London ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Sep 2001 08:08:31 EDT From: NIGELBLUES@aol.com Subject: OV: Re: oppositeview-digest V3 #222 Doug Brown writes: << any kind of promotional devices that involve their heads in baby carriages, lollipops or the color yellow. >> Agree with every word you posted Doug but can I add bear costumes and caravan parks to accompany crap singles to this list please? ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Sep 2001 10:28:11 +0100 From: "Jane Armstrong" Subject: OV: Re: Dels Down Under + Poster Wants... Sandro Try looking on eBay - they often have things like that there - that's where I've got most of my bits and pieces. But www.pushposters.com is a great place for memorabilia too. I'd recommend it to anyone. Jane > Now.. on to something of a request. > In the UK there are those subway/metro 180x100cm promo posters that usually > are issued for new singles and albums.
