It's just that they are hyped to be one of the best live acts around now, but they fell quite short of this. Good visual aspect of the show, with a really unique stage. But other than a couple of exceptions, songs played were simple replications of studio work. Bonos voice was uwful, but I have since learnt that his father is very ill, and this may have contributed to his distraction. I have heard that some people thought that they were very good. I suppose its just what tickles your fancy! The Eileen Rose gig was brilliant - including a great rocky duet with Kris and Eileen on vocals. The Delboys were in top form despite the sweltering heat! The album is all ready to go - but Justin STILL hasn't decided on a name for it - and without a name there can't be any artwork. Any suggestions anyone? If you're here on time tonight, Andrew, Starsailor are playing the London Astoria - I've heard a few tracks by them, and would recommend them. Also, Sparklehorse are supposed to be good. They're on tonight at the Mean Fiddler. Atomic Kitten are on at the Shepherd's Bush Empire tomorrow if you don't care about their murdering version of Eternal Flame and just want something nice, blond and fluffy to look at. If you like jazz, Courtney Pine is playing the Forum, London on Friday, If you like Blondie, there's a tribute band called Atomic on at the Half Moon Putney on Saturday. That's a great venue - though a bit hot if the weather stays like this. Also on Sunday, a blast from my past, Shakatak play at Ronnie Scott's (jazz funk) Jane > Flying into London tonight till Monday morning. Any good gigs that i should > go to. Well thats one way of describing them I suppose - Kids present so i won't use my own words! Anyway, yes the gig was amazing last night, and Iain is still the perfectionist when it comes to his guitars. Half way through one of the band's set, he ran on, grabbed his steel guitar and ran of again to twiddle is knobs backstage :-/ The band are frustrated with the wait for the new album as well, and it's good they have ER to keep busy, or the next Del's gig would have been in a padded cell! I'd worry that if I went to see Atomic Kitten I'd be directed into the "leering men" section (How do you spell leering anyway?). I would have liked to go and see starsailor but my flight won't be in till about 7ish and by the time i get into town etc... Saw Sparklehorse play in Belfast a couple of months ago. I like their stuff but the sound was awful, I could have done better on the desk myself! - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jane Armstrong" To: "Andrew Douglas" Cc: "Dels" Sent: Thursday, August 16, 2001 11:26 AM Subject: Re: OT: gigs in London > Shame you weren't here last night. I had coverted all my downloaded Del mp3 files to .wav files using Music Match and now my mp3 files have been destroyed due to fire. I have tried to convert them back but they are listed as .cda files on the audio cds and it doesn't recognise them to covert them back to mp3. I am not a happy camper as all those files took years to find and while I have them on cd I would love to put the mp3s on disk to store them and avoid a repeat of this bloody fiasco. Help! Thanks in advance, Michael:) _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Aug 2001 23:42:26 +0100 From: "Hilary Gray" Subject: OV: OT Devlin news Hi all, Apparently a new single (Static in the Flow) on Sept 14th and a new album (Consent) on October 5th.
