Enjoy! ------------------------------ Date: 5 Aug 2001 14:18:25 +0100 From: Neil Matheson Subject: OV: OT: The Cash Brothers Hi all, A posting a while back mentioned the Cash Brothers, and was followed by a request for confirmation of whether or not Andrew Cash was involved, if I recall correctly. (I don't think this was ever provided - but sorry if I missed it and am repeating old information...) While flicking through a copy of Mojo (July 2001 issue), I came across an advert for their album, "How Was Tomorrow". The ad copy reads: "Toronto bros Peter and Andrew Cash recorded separately for years before making music together. Why so long? Of the 11 songs, only one is forgettable; the rest are gems, elegant but understated, with the most subtle of band accompaniment and perfect sibling harmonies. Night Shift Guru and Awkward Game share Nebraska's Instant memorability; Raceway and Show Me The Reason pitch camp somewhere between The Jayhawks and Pernice Brothers. (Sylvie Simmons - MOJO)" I note from the ad that the album is released on Zoe records, the label which distributed the last couple of albums by Juliana Hatfield, who is also well worth checking out (although somewhat different from the above, if the comparisons to The Jayhawks are accurate - check out "Beautiful Creature" for wonderfully crafted ballads, "Juliana's Pony: Total System Overload" for a rock-out; previous albums sway somewhere between these two sides... Don't worry - I like early Genesis myself, though I haven't listened to them much recently. I was/am also a huge ELP and Yes fan. Sad, I know. And I don't have a long beard either.
