Well, I am THRILLED that there's no UK tour in the fall through December 2001. Selfish git that I am, I couldn't have made any of those gigs, so I am happy. (please don't throw anything at me). What I can offer, though, is that, if and when the dels play in NY, I have lots of floor space for those who wish to stay at my place. I'd love to see them do a set on the main stage on mid Saturday afternoon, then a more intimate scaled down gig in the acoustic tent on the Sunday. I can but dream. They vary occasional songs but put it this way - some people on the last tour could time when they took their photos as they knew where Justin would be standing and in what pose! And they didn't take many requests from the audience ..... with a few notable exceptions. If anyone has the opportunity to download any of the tracks from Radiohead's October 17, 2000 show in Toronto - please do so. Not only are the tracks beautifully played and recorded, but i continue to crack myself up at the way thom Yorke announces each song before they play it - "This one was brought to you with assistance by Ticketmaster", "This song courtesy of EMI", etc. - EVERY track I've downloaded from this show has this - too hilarious...at least to me... I've been trying so hard to think positively, Hilary, but was unsuccessful until I read your post... you cheered me up so much! Thanks. Now if the stateside tour in the spring or summer comes to pass, all will indeed be right with the world. The springtime is a wonderful tour season, especially here in Georgia since the 'skeeters' won't be biting yet and would be the perfect time for all of you venture to this side of the Pond. Teresa would say thanks too, but she heard that ELO's Jeff Lynne has a home & studio in Los Angeles so she's out there right now with her dear Doug The Newspaper Man & daughter Carrie, trying to hunt him down. Betcha anything Doug will be trying for an interview while Teresa takes some of those wonderful photos she does so well! Congrats on your move, Gwen! Hope it goes smoothly for you. Independiente said its online campaign was more successful than the traditional offline promotion and could signal a watershed for the way music is marketed. The group's official website, www.travisonline.com, was used as the linchpin for the launch of Travis's new album, The Invisible Band, resulting in a 300% increase in traffic between February and March. Because music lovers associate themselves so closely with their favourite acts, the internet is an ideal way to contact them directly. Adrian Pope, the head of digital at Independiente, said: "With global release dates the same for the album and single Sing, Travisonline was the linchpin of the entire marketing strategy." He added: "We have the experience and expertise to be highly effective with the digital marketing campaign without ramming it down people's throats." Exclusive content was offered on the site, including previews of one new song a day, video and concert footage, online chats with the band, a competition, plus news and a Travis game which 100,000 people played. Data collected from the fans who visited the site will be used for future campaigns as a means of direct contact. The campaign was supported by AOL worldwide, NME in the UK and MSN in other countries. Digital promotion company Way to Blue promoted the website across the music and entertainment website to drive traffic to the Travis homepage. Useful link travisonline.net Jennifer A.
