OK the blue background may be very close(actually, Alison and I must have similar taste in this colour, i actually chose this shortly before alison launched!), but the logo, graphic and picture are totally different! In any case, this is not a competition and secondly its a splash page awaiting the new site to become live(and that aint nothing like the splash page!) Calm down! nobody is stealing nobody's design! sheesh Kevin Cawthorne Original Message: - ----------------- From: Amber Iakal amber9374@mail.com Date: Mon, 21 May 2001 03:47:58 +0800 To: webmaster@delamitri.co.uk, webmaster@delamitri.com, oppositeview@smoe.org Subject: sites Hello Allison and Kevin, Are you two combining sites? I went to the UK site yesterday to note that it looks like it has "morphed" into the US site If you are not combining sites, I find it abhorrent that the UK site would so blatantly steal from the new US design. Shame on you. Amber PS I am cc'ing the Del Amitri mailing list to make them aware that this is happening. No one should be allowed to steal designs and get away with it. - -- - -------------------------------------------------------------------- Mail2Web - Check your email from the web at http://www.mail2web.com/ . ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 May 2001 14:51:23 -0700 (PDT) From: Barry Redmond Subject: OV: Re: oppositeview-digest V3 #128 Hi folks, I've read the opposite view list for a while now and i'm confused - why the 'Cry To Be Found' bashing? It's a better song than the majority of SOSP, and surely of that we are all glad. Next you'll be telling me 'A Better Man' and 'A Little Luck' aren't two of their finest songs ever! I personally really enjoy CTBF. Maybe we will never experience another Waking Hours in the dels lifetime, but please god let the new album be better than SOSP. Just so everyone understands the background of this and Kev's post. The person making the original post, is NOT a member of OV, at least not under the address they mailed under. I agree with Michael, let's not discuss color schemes of the websites... SOSP has its moments, but as a whole it fails. You can't make classics like Waking Hours every time granted but as a fan who owns every song, im gonna have my favourites and sadly most of the dels b-sides are far better than most of the fare on SOSP. The Dels still are, and will remain always to be my favourite band. I just hope for a return to form. Kind of like what all of the Paul McCartney fans must have been wishing for in the last 10 years. The only thing that could have made SOSP worse, would have been the inclusion of Roll To Me as a hidden bonus track. That would have been as big a mistake as leaving Paper Moon off SOSP in the first place. I remember the Twised release party in glasgow when Justin apologised in advance for the piece of pop that was Roll To Me they were 'advised' to write for the album by the record company, in the hopes of a commercial hit. They certainly got the hit, but doesn't it make you cringe when you are gushing in near reverent tones about the dels, only for people to only recognise them for Roll To Me because it was in the movie Flipper? *gets on his knees and prays firstly for an 'Evidence' like miracle on the new album, and secondly that SOSP was Del Amitri's 'Kid A'* B. - --- > The hell you say! ;-) Not that ctbf isn't good, but SOSP is amazing. > Poorly mixed maybe (especially coming after twisted), but none the less a > terrific album. But on the other hand it has some real crackers like High Times, What I think She Sees, Cruel Light of Day and Not Where It's At. But Mother Nature's Writing... YUK!!! I hate that song! And I find Through All That Nothing rather annoying. And whilst I didn't like the single release of CTBF much, there's an acoustic version knocking around from an Interview disc they did which is completely different and 100 times better in my opinion. Opposite Views - that's what this list is all about!
