Lin Brehmer is still a big Del's fan, as are the entire WXRT family. http://www.wxrt.com ) But since they were purchased by CBS a couple years ago (see my previous post "Why Does Radio Suck?") the DJ's are governed by the regional PD. They CAN program about 5% of each shift for themselves,but... Anyway, the last conversation I had with the MD at XRT (this is beginning to read like NASA...) they HAD asked the UMG/Interscope rep about rumours about a 2001 Dels CD and the rep didn't know nuthin' 'bout it... BTW - my 2 cents on Justin's posts - I've been forwarding them to various & sundry friends who aren't on OV and they immediately post back - they are intrigued...confused...frightened... But this reaction got them over to Napster (no lectures, please) where they downloaded their first tastes of Del-dom, and now they're hooked! Alternative promotion techniques DO work... Good heavens! Kristy, with your enthusiasm for the band maybe you ought to go to work for Interscope and 'enlighten' them as to what's going on! How in the world do we get the suits to get behind our guys.... I'm a firm believer in active Internet promotion via web sites, free downloads, etc. and I've seen it make such a difference in two other bands success with new albums. There are several good music sites these days, maybe some promotion there would do some good... does that kind of publicity have to come thru the label? I'm sure some of our media-savy bunch right here on OV could compose some kick-ass promotional stuff... Its going to be absolutely essential for the new album's success to tour, tour, tour ~ hopefully clubs and such, like the Roxy in Atlanta (not so many huge, noisy, band-filled festivals) where its one-on-one with the fans. Del Amitri impressed my socks right off there at the Roxy. > BTW - my 2 cents on Justin's posts - I've been forwarding them to various & > sundry friends who aren't on OV and they immediately post back - they are > intrigued...confused...frightened... Absolutely, absolutely... I really really like Justin (and Iain's) posts because its like a behind-the-scenes glimpse into what's going on as the album takes shape. Same for the photos: what a delight to see a formerly buzz-cut certain someones hair growing out, you know, that fellow who popped up in the back seat of the van photo...what a normal group of guys, crossed eyes and all. May we see more photos please, if anyone who has a digital camera happens to be perusing this post?!?!?!?!
