It says: "Whitehouse admits that the series was spurred on by his won midlife crisis. "I didn't have any particular project in mind," he says "until David Cummings [his friend and "Happiness" co-writer] and I compared midlife crises, and thought, 'We're both looking down the wrong end of the barrel at 40. We'd better write something about happiness and man's inability to find it' - while taking the mick out of people who pursue it. I suppose it's an bittersweet journey of life." So now David has TWO new series currently showing on British TV. What a busy bee he's been! What was that dj's name, Kramer or Bramer or something... wonder if he is still around. He seemed to have a really good time interviewing the band back in the good ole days; if he's still there maybe he'd put in a good word for the band. My personal favorite misunderstanding was from 'Driving With The Brakes On' where I thought Justin was singing: "Driving through the long night Trying to figure who's right and who's wrong Now the cat has gone." They CAN program about 5% of each shift for themselves,but... Anyway, the last conversation I had with the MD at XRT (this is beginning to read like NASA...) they HAD asked the UMG/Interscope rep about rumours about a 2001 Dels CD and the rep didn't know nuthin' 'bout it... BTW - my 2 cents on Justin's posts - I've been forwarding them to various & sundry friends who aren't on OV and they immediately post back - they are intrigued...confused...frightened... But this reaction got them over to Napster (no lectures, please) where they downloaded their first tastes of Del-dom, and now they're hooked! Alternative promotion techniques DO work... I just spoke with Iain on the phone for a bit. He let me know that they are finishing the album and should only be in NY/NJ another week, that they are seeing Lloyd Cole tonight (Taire!), that Justin is daft, and that Times Square is like Disneyland with a lot of rednecks. That, and he really is interested in the tribute album. (read: GET YOUR LINER NOTES TO DARREN, FOLKS!) :) Alison PS: I asked him when the Del Amitri R&B album was coming out and he laughed, because the guy producing some of the tracks has produced Lauryn Hill and Mary J Blige. Hee. :) - ------------------------------------------------------------------- Alison Bellach: alibee@delamitri.com http://alibee.linex.com http://www.delamitri.com "If you want peace, work for justice." ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Mar 2001 22:50:08 EST From: SngWrite1@aol.com Subject: Re: OV: call with Iain Can someone tell me what I'm supposed to do for the liner notes? I must have missed an email (or it went to my old address) with the details. Sorry if it's me that's holding everything up! I don't even know what song is getting used... Dave Sills PS - I too will be seeing Lloyd Cole, but it'll be in a little more than a week (in support of his excellent new album The Negatives - in stores first week of April) here in Chicago. ------------------------------ End of oppositeview-digest V3 #73 *********************************
