Uh oh, guilty as charged. But I swear it was Teresa who told me to get there really early and where to stand. And I had never paid that much attention to pedals before, honest... or cared about boots much either, for that matter.... At the sixth or seventh of their shows I'd seen that year, I'd finally convinced a bunch of friends that their lives would end if they didn't see this brilliant band immediately! I dragged the whole bunch to the House of Blues, in Hollywood. (Excellent view of Justin's leather trousers, for all you ladies...) Anyway, I succeeded in planting everyone right in front of the stage, and we'd all begun that oh so religious of experiences, when this guy- > 11. I think he decided two of the women we were with seemed fair enough, because he eventually parked next to (or on, I should say) us. It too about five songs before it got so out of hand that none of us were able to enjoy the show the way you should. By the time he fell onto my friend, spilling yet another drink on her, me, and everyone else in splashing distance, I'd sort of had it. I'm not a violent guy at all. I don't even like most confrontation, but there's no way I was going to lose a whole Del Amitri show to #11. I ended up grabbing the guy's arm behind him and pushing him off the floor. He went down swinging, and a bouncer came over and sorted him out. By the time I got back over to my friends, the song had ended, and Justin looks down at me with that smile and says something to the effect of "Well, everyone can go home feeling better about themselves now..." I felt like a total prat, but I'll tell you what, we all really enjoyed the rest of the show! Here's to another BUSY tour!!! See you in Hollywood... - -George in Burbank ps. My friends ended up buying a lot of Del albums that week... ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Mar 2001 21:29:08 -0800 From: Lori Royal-Gordon Subject: Re: OV: archetypes George wrote: > I ended up grabbing the guy's arm behind him > and pushing him off the floor. I am continually amazed how many people on this list were at the same shows that I was--too bad we didn't know each other back then! Does anyone have a recording of this concert??? Los Angeles, House of Blues, I think it was April '96. It's one of the few shows I've always really, really wanted a tape of that I've never been able to find. The very last show of that very long tour, and they did a lot of fun cover tunes that I've love to have in my collection. ~Lori, the one who passed the note to Justin on stage, asking to hear b-sides they couldn't remember how to play ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lauren Royal ~ http://www.laurenroyal.com In stores now: AMETHYST, EMERALD, and IN PRAISE OF YOUNGER MEN Coming July 2001 from Signet Books: AMBER (Kendra Chase's story) Enter my contests to win a necklace and a book signed by four authors! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Mar 2001 21:29:08 -0800 From: Lori Royal-Gordon Subject: Re: OV: archetypes George wrote: > I ended up grabbing the guy's arm behind him > and pushing him off the floor.
