Hi from the desolate wasteland that is Southern England, In reply to Mike Langlet's piece on the meaning of Del Amitri, I have to say that I agree totally with his views. "Driving with the brakes on" is a personal favourite (from "twisted") but most of "some other sucker's parade" has special meaning too. I only discovered del Amitri in the last couple of years but have four albums (limited finances mean that i can't buy my music as often as I'd like) in "Twisted", "Waking Hours", "Hatful Of Rain" and "Some Other Sucker's Parade" (the best in my opinion) Along with The Eels, the Dels have been one of the few bands that have helped me through the last few months. I have recently suffered from depression, brought on by the deaths of several close relatives within one week of each other. This same week also contained the death of my cat, (whom i had owned for 16yrs) and my girlfriend dumping me after 8 months. Recovering from this can really be summed up by the line "sometimes its the medicine that makes the pain" from SOSP. I would also like some news on the new album and its accompanying tour. Particularly the dates for each. I live in close proximity to Portsmouth, where I know the Dels have peformed in the past, and I know many people who would like to see them revisit the hallowed stage of the Guildhall here. I am also interseted to know what other types of music other dels fans are into. i myself am into metal and indie, particularly Metallica, Toploader, Green Day and Iron Maiden. Anyway, keep posting Sam ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Feb 2001 19:00:35 +1000 From: "Michael Holt" Subject: OV: RE: Fw: What does Del Amitri mean to you? Similarly it was Del Amitri that put me through what was without doubt the darkest part of my life...marriage break up, death of loved ones, serious depression and resulting unemployment meant that I was about as low as I could go. Fortunately I had Be My Downfall, One Step At A Time, This Side of the Morning and Whiskey Remorse to hold out the cold and keep me sain... Take care, Michael : ) - -----Original Message----- From: owner-oppositeview@smoe.org [mailto:owner-oppositeview@smoe.org]On Behalf Of Sam Brown Sent: Tuesday, 27 February 2001 5:52 To: oppositeview@smoe.org Subject: OV: Fw: What does Del Amitri mean to you? - ----- Original Message ----- From: Sam Brown To: oppositview@smoe.org Sent: Sunday, February 25, 2001 8:54 PM Subject: What does Del Amitri mean to you?
