Best up beat V-day song is surely Sometimes I just have to say your name!!! So in the opinion of anyone who chooses to post, which is the best Del Amitri CD for Vday? There should probably be categories I guess...for those happy about Vday, those indifferent to it, those pissed about it, etc. I'm listening to Change Everything right now...it seemed appropriate, though I'm not sure why. If you were pumped that it was Vday, I guess I can't think of a DA cd that would appropriately match that mood, but maybe I'm missing something. Any thoughts? Okay, so yesterday, I had to take the kitten that was living in my garage to the Vet, to get him checked out so I could bring him in to live with us (me, fiance, and 2 cats). So, anyway, I have ONE tape in my car that I listen to all of the time....one one side it is Elvis Costello/Burt Bacharach = Painted from Memory and on the other is del Amitri - Twisted. So when I finally got Oliver (the cat) in the car, she was meowing and carrying on terribly, until the Elvis Costello side got over and the dels started playing. So I guess I got a smart cat!! (Either that or she didn't like the air blowing on her face ... I just realized that about the time I shut off the heat - which doesn't get hot - was about the time the dels started. Oh well. maureen ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Feb 2001 08:02:01 -0600 From: "S Meyer" Subject: OV: RE: V-day Well . . . if it makes anyone feel better, I have to say that no one I know of (couples or singles) did anything for V-day last night, and certainly not us ~ just another weekday evening ~ dinner, news, Seinfeld rerun, then Steve heads to bed. In fact, if I was going to do anything, I'd of been downtown at the Neville Brothers show at a Milwaukee hall. But alas, some folks have to work at ungodly hours of the morning and late week night shows are out of the question. (sigh) [That sound I'm hearing is coming from Missouri ~ Ed is pulling his hair out! ;>) ] PS: I like Lighten up the Load as a V-day song. From being given the 12" Girls on Film single for my 12th birthday, I had a thing for Duran Duran, or more specifically John Taylor. But I can pinpoint the moment I went right off them - it was the early hours of Sunday 14th July 1985, when having watched Live Aid all day in eager anticipation of seeing Duran Duran live from Philadelphia, I was devastated to find out they were absolutely crap live. I think that was the moment I stopped being into a band 'cos I fancied one of them and got into a band because of the music instead - I became a bit of a Queen fan after Live Aid. You can't really accuse any of them of being eye candy :o). A female friend said after seeing the Dels live "well you're not into them because of their looks are you?". When I tried to point out one or two redeeming features, she obviously thought I had lost the plot! Seems that only we can truly appreciate their rugged good looks(!) The band must be whatever-the-opposite-of-vain-is to publish a photo of themselves which has obviously been taken first thing in the morning. Is Justin *still* wearing that disgusting grey granddad cardigan? Best Justin era = Spit in the Rain. The whole look. Now he looks just... urrgh, unwashed and grimy. Where on earth is Mark? Stuck in drum kit hell? If Commissioner Gordon is doing fantastic sound computer thingies with the drums etc on the recording, would they be able to reproduce the sound live? Or will we end up with some songs that can't be done live like Cry to be Found? Questions, questions. He said he would definitely put NWIA on the list. Today at 4:10 I heard it. It's an interesting feeling knowing you're the catalyst in getting something played on the radio. They didn't back announce it, and as it had already started when I tuned it, I don't know if they said who it was before hand. I hope so. Darren PS Alison always says the sweetest things about me.
