Leah Coldplay have only just started to get noticed. Nigel wrote about them about six months back just before their stunning debut album Parachutes came out - and as I usually trust his good judgement, I filed their name away in my memory. Then I heard Yellow, and liked it, so I decided it was time to buy the album. They have also had another hit here in the UK called Trouble, and the album has been Top 10 for months. They played three numbers on Jools Holland's New Year's Eve Hootenanny as well, and the more I hear them the better they get. It's an album which grows and grows on you - I wasn't 100% sure of it at first - but the more I listen, the more I get into it. And my sons love Yellow. Alex even said it was his second favourite Del Amitri song....!!! Well he's only 8. But, if your son said that was his "Second favouite Del Amitri song," even if he's only eight, I may have to check this out!! I even went online to http://www.virtuetv.com to catch one of their webcasts, but as it was merely an HMV in-store, I wasn't terribly impressed. I then got the CD for Christmas but never bothered listening to it (and they say the music press isn't a powerful thing...) until after I also saw them perform on BBC's America's broadcast of Jools Holland's New Year's show. Now it's also one of my fave CD's (see list below) and I'm planning to catch them live at a sold-out show at (Del's reference) the Riviera next month. (BTW, VirtueTV now has a new live performance online of Coldplay that's really very good & worth a look) Current spins... PJ Harvey - Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea (also a bootleg of her Vic Theatre/Chicago performance from December) David Gray - White Ladder (can't quite get enough...) Super Deluxe - Famous School of Fish - (first CD) Blur - Best of... - Wembly Singles performance CD (thank you Jane) U2 - Live bootleg of Irving Plaza show from December (ain't Napster wonderful...)
