Here's your chance for people who missed the Eileen Rose Borderline Club gig with Iain, Kris and Mark. Del Amitri will now be flying out next week to New York, which means our guys can help her again! SO if you are free this Monday 29th January, get yourself down to the Borderline, Soho, London. Our editorial staff went with some Delfans and had a great time. We will be there again on Monday. The club has a great atmosphere and it may be your last chance to see them before they fly to the USA. Tickets are #5/#6 and you will be able to get them at the door from 8pm. If you wish to meet with everyone, why not put a message up on our discussion board and arrange a time and place? As a (1) New Yorker and (2) big Dels fan (or is that the other way around?) I'm excited to hear the guys are heading over here to the States to finish the album, which I absolutely cannot wait to hear. Now, not that I condone stalking in any form, but, anybody know *where* they may be doing the mixing? Any chance of a gig while they're here? What if they had a somewhat obsessive fan willing to do the legwork? Anyhow, a big hello to everyone, thanks for all the info and keep it coming! (BTW grabbed a pre-Dels-backup Eileen Rose track off Napster yesterday, not bad at all...) Brian. Yahoo! Was just listening to the Eileen Rose track "Rose", on this month's UNCUT magazine CD - she kinda sounds like a weaker-voiced Marie McKee (formerly of Austin-based Lone Justice & used to date Robbie Robertson of The Band). And, s'posedly she's American.... I saw Boo Hewerdiune about 3 years ago in CHicago with Darden Smith, whom he recorded an album with and co-wrote several songs. They were terrific. Sounds like a great show! I am jealous that you saw even part of my favorite band. Maybe they could come do an intimate show in Chi-town while they are in the states later this month? (oh well, only dreaming) Thanks for the update and the great review, Hilary. Richard in Chicago "Life could be perfect, even if we are not. If everything is forgiven, even if not forgot. When you say "she's American", are you talking about her or Eileen? I know Maria's American. Guess who's CDs I'm going to have to pull out and listen to when I get home? :-) Thanks for the blast from the past, Jennifer! Hi, I finally come out of lurk mode and it's only to talk about Maria Mckee. Maria is from Southern California. She actually went to Beverly Hills High school (90210). Oddly enough she was classmates with Nicholas Cage & Paulie Shore. She still lives in the Los Angeles area and recently married her guitar player Jimmy. Back to Del Amitri a little bit of sad news to report. Deirdre O'Donahue passed away 3 days ago. I am sure most of you do no recognize that name but she was a DJ. If any of you have the bootleg tape/CD of the two SNAP shows the Dels did in March & May of 1990 then you may remember her name. If it were not for Deirdre I would never have heard of the Dels. She was a true fan and it was on her show that I first heard them on the radio. She played their frist album back in 1986 and continued to play them thoughout the '90's. I think I may just have to dig out that CD and give it a listen :) Taire ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jan 2001 14:13:17 -0600 From: Jennifer Woyan Subject: Re: OV: Re: oppositeview-digest V3 #22 Wow! The station has a "4-Play" at 10am. A "no repeat workday", all kinds of specialty programming. It's paying off. I heard Driving With The Brakes On Monday morning. I heard Be My Downfall this afternoon; I heard Not Where It's At this evening in the supermarket. Outside of the supermarket, emailing radio stations works. Please do it.
