Hello all, I am brand new to Del Amitri and I am so glad to have joined this mailing list. I just purchased "hatful of rain" after hearing a beautiful song called "be my downfall". I have not been able stop playing this cd. You guys are fans of a truly great band! Justin Currie and Iain Harvey, I gather from the liner notes, are the only full time members of the group? Man, what emotionally filled songs these are. These guys seem completely unafraid to share feelings that others would never admit to. You can't always be perfect in life and love and Justin and Iain strip away the ego and arrogance that consume so many writers these days. I'd love to continue, but right now I've got to listen to "hatful" for the 20th time and see if I can find some more cd's by Del Amitri as fast as possible! Hoping to learn plenty. bye ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Nov 2000 21:39:18 -0600 From: Leah Schenkenberg Subject: Re: OV: Brand New! You sound just like me when I first found Del Amitri. Hatful was all I knew, but I loved it so much I just knew I needed more. You will have a lot of fun catching up...I know I did. You're probably the luckiest one here because we're all waiting for a new album and you have tons of stuff to learn before you're totally anxious for it. I would suggest getting Twisted or Change Everything next, but I know some people would suggest getting Waking Hours (though I think if the only CD you have is Hatful, you'd appreciate Waking Hours more after getting the other 2 I mentioned). Get SOSP later, and then the first cd (if you can find it and are REALLY into them). And you have all the live tracks...all the great b-sides....ooo...I'm so excited for you all ready. I know how much fun it is to catch up on the last 10 years of great stuff they've done. I'm a poor college student, so my suggestion is to get the CDs at a used shop (where I got mine) or ebay (where I get them for all my friends). I just checked there a few moments ago, and saw Twisted, Change Everything, and Waking Hours, all for about $3.50. That'd probably be the best bet to get them fast and cheap (and what a great combo that is). Glad you found the greatest band on earth.
