I was delighted when they released Lousy with Love with the Greatest hits. With songs like In the Meantime and Scared to Live, it contains stuff that many other bands would quite happily release as singles. My fave has to be the quirky Whisky Remorse. Now a question from me! With the recent advent of tribute bands (Bjorn Again, Nearly Dan etc) is there a Dels Tribute band and if so what are they like? If not I just need to find a singing bass player and I'm away... Kevin contacted us with details of a web site for a band called the Delettes. It showed some beautiful girl band members, and a number of Real Audio clips we could click on and listen to. They did a number of Del songs really well. Almost a perfect reproduction but in girl's voices...... We were all quite taken by them and very impressed. Until Kev revealed that they didn't exist! He'd taken his sound card and "converted" some actual Del Amitri songs so that the pitch of Justin's voice was altered and he sounded female. Kevin ended up with a few bruises when he reveled the hoax!!! The tape you mentioned was something entirely different..... I not only sing and play bass, I also happen to believe our Dels to be the most brilliant band ever not from Liverpool. I even go back and forth on the 'scouse assessment as well. The one time I was lucky enough to meet the band, I stammered something to Justin about his being the first songwriter to ever mean as much to me as Lennon & McCartney... His surprisingly humble reply led me to believe he thought I was certifiable... Ian seemed amused as well, but it could've been the Jack Daniels... Anyway, I'd be up for the tribute thing anytime... For sure - B-sides always seem to be some of the most interesting songs - and Whiskey Remorse is one of my favourite songs of all.
