At one point they even had a huge SOSP poster stuck up in the street market. Coronation Street - based near Manchester - also had CTBF on. Just today I've heard Duran Duran, Robbie Williams, Posh Spice and Oasis played on the jukebox in the pub or over the radio in Eastenders. Recently I've also heard Travis and Squeeze played. They're all on different labels - so I don't think that it's a deal done with the record companies. I used to know someone who worked as a production assistant for the BBC comedy dept, and she picked background songs she liked and thought would fit the situation - no sponsorship deals - they just paid the usual performance royalties - so I think that is probably what happens here for the soaps. I just wish I knew who the Del fan was.... Jane ------------------------------ End of oppositeview-digest V2 #158 **********************************
