(see below). Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you. ***** Hello... I'm a brand-new OV-er who's been reading these threads with a lot of interest. Glad to know I'm not the only one who's turned on friends, relations and strangers to the dels (talking them up, playing cuts from their records and regularly performing some of my favorite dels songs live). To me, it really says something when people are so enthused by a band they take it upon themselves to share that music with a wider audience. [A bit of background, if I may: I'm a singer-songwriter with a broad range of artists admired. Of my many influences, however, Justin's the one who taught me to really sing. del Amitri's music struck deep at a time when I really needed it, and simply put, Justin is among the most remarkable singer-songwriters I've ever heard.] Last Sunday night, I had the chance to do my first radio appearance (in support of my debut record) at WWUH-FM 91.3 (in the Hartford, CT area, U.S.). Upon arrival, the DJ asked if I wanted to pull anything from their library to play during the segment while I'd be on; I ducked in and came back seconds later with Twisted. "Track number five," I said, to his astonishment. During the interview, I praised the band (and Justin's musical influence) enough to prompt the DJ's good-natured reminder of whose interview it was & why I'd come there! After I performed a few original songs live in-studio, he played "Tell Her This" and I raved some more afterward. Point is, I hear what everyone's been saying, and I for one am always willing to do whatever I can to help spread the word about del Amitri (especially in the Northeast U.S., where I live & gig). I'd love to hear any suggestions, and thanks for listening. PLEASE NOTE: this is NOT a concern if you use AOL 3.0, 4.0 or 5.0. This is only if you have AOL 6.0 or plan to upgrade to 6.0 To make a long story short, the new AOL 6.0 sends all email with "HTML formatting" and does not have an option to send just plain text. What happens then, is all email sent from an AOL 6.0 account to a smoe.org mailing list is bounced (rejected) by the listserve software and is then forwarded onto the list owner for fixing/approval. The list owner then gets the post and has to do some magic and then send the post on. This of course will result in a delay for your post in reaching the list. So, if you now have AOL 6.0 and send a post and are perplexed as to why it did not show up yet or showed up hours later, you now know why. This is causing problems on other list serves across the planet, and AOL has been made aware of the problem. In the mean time, the owners of smoe.org are working on a solution with some software they can install that would automatically fix the offending AOL email and send it on without it bouncing. In the mean time, if you are active on this list and have been considering upgrading to version 6.0 of AOL, you might want to hold off a while until this problem is rectified (I will let you know when that is). Thanks, Darren Admin. A little advertising certainly couldn't help. Do you have nationwide distribution for your album? I'm sure some of us would be glad to hear some more of the talent that seems to be increasing daily on this list. :-) BTW, it's always easy to tell a fellow long time fan when they type "del Amitri" instead of "Del Amitri". Thanks for the flashback and happy memories. :-) Best of luck with your debut! debbie "If those who only see the bad things don't even try to lift their feet out of the muck & mire, they'll never make it to the fields of flowers, dancing or not." - ----- Original Message ----- From: "gm grande" To: Sent: Wednesday, November 08, 2000 6:19 PM Subject: OV: Re: oppositeview-digest V2 #153 > Hello, > > I was trying to get the following to you via the email address provided > (oppositeview@mylist.net) but it isn't getting there...
