But strangely enough, the band/artist I would compare the Dels most to is The Replacements/Paul Westerberg. Granted, their music is very different, but both have the full range of emotions in their songs. Both have hooks in the song to grab you, and both are intelligent and ironic, with a touch of well-placed humor. Athenaeum- Well crafted pop songs, his voice is much deeper but the lyrics are very on. Train- A nice album with a great feel and a smooth flow. Some older bands with the same flavor...the Eagles, Little River Band, John Lennon and Neil Young (I really like Harvest Moon, '92). And just to add heat to the discussion ;^) I really think Matchbox Twenty have more similarities than many people on the list want to admit. The new single getting airplay now, the slower ballad "If You're Gone" has an eerily similar guitar riff from one of all your favorite Del songs...can you figure it out? I'm sure you can! I wasn't going to say anything about this but Donna and I were in the van the other day and "If You're Gone" came on and Donna said "that sounds like the Dels"...and I thought REDEMPTION! I could go on...the title track "Mad Season" has an excellent spot in it where Thomas hits these high notes and it is a dead on Justin, or "Angry" has a great rhythm very similar to "Maggie Brown". I could still go on but I think I'd rather go listen to the CD... I managed to speak to one of the editors the other day and she told me that there would not be an issue being sent to subscribers this month. (owing to lack of news) But it is hoped a special Xmas card will be produced - with help from the band in the studio! Best Wishes, Andy Hutchinson PS: Alena - she was a classic rock chic. Very bohemian, pretty and unglamerous...
