Simon Mayo is a big fan though - after spending a lot of drinking time with them during the 98 World Cup - when they appeared live twice singing Don't Come Home Too Soon - when Andy was too pissed to turn up and Iain was so drunk he fell off the stage. Then around Christmas time they played in a Thornton's Chocolate factory on his show - for some strange reason. I don't actually think any of the workers there even knew who they were!! Talking of Dels on the Radio, someone on Virgin played DWTBO the other day (someone requested it) - but couldn't pronounce Del Amitri when he introduced the record. He got it right after about four attempts - though to give him his credit he DID get it after the song had finished! I didn't catch who he was though - I only had the radio on for 10 minutes whilst I popped out for some petrol. I'm still new at the £ = $ ratio.... Actually, I just got back from the matchbox twenty concert (though it really is 3am). It rocked my world. WONDERFUL show. For covers tonight, he did "Mama, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys" and also "american girl" by Tom Petty. The concert was long...the arrangements were fabulous. What you hear is what you get...they deliver every harmony, every weird sounding guitar solo, and a freaking rocking awesome 3 song encore. So matchbox twenty has been entitled to god-like status, and I highly recommend their concert.
