I need help...I know a few lyrics, I need to know what song it is (is it just me, or is this scenario vaguely familiar?) Could it be I'm getting in too deep Every night I'm talking in my sleep Lately I've been so confused I really don't know what to do Could you be the one I'm dreaming of? Could you be the girl I really love? All the people tell me so, But what do all the people know? I had never heard this song until this summer...I assumed it was from the 80s and called "talking in my sleep". I can't find it anywhere...The only one I can find is "talking in your sleep" by the romantics, and that's not it. As I tend not to o/d on the group, even their early material still sounds fresh to me. If anything, it's the production values that tends to date couple with their early material being more mellow and folksy. If Dels progress is Cry To Be Found, gimme the old stuff anytime!! Nice to see SOSP getting some good list feedback too as their always always seemed to be a mixed reaction to it. I had it on again recently and played it several times like you would with a new album. It sounds fresher and crisper than just about any new crap currently hogging the charts and airwaves. Anyway Mr Brown, if you want to hear old music, check out Dame Vera Lynn. I saw her on telly last night singing the same two songs she's done all her career for the 60th anniversary of the blitz today. I wish that Bluebird flying over the white cliffs of Dover had shat on her head, would have done us all a big favour!! Jane, I commend you for checking Coldplay - bet you won't be disappointed. As good a debut album as I've heard from anybody in the past 15 years or so. As for great driving songs, my car cassette player pin snapped off so The Clash live CD has been on incessantly for a fortnight but I don't care! If you haven't heard that yet, it came out last year, you really should try. A fantastic album of truly rocking guitars, riotous live sounds and anthemic tunes. One of the best, if not the best, live acts I've seen and that album does them justice. A great reminder of how brilliant live gigs can be. Absolutely perfect for de-stressing after work in traffic jams - mind you, the cars around me must think I'm on day release as I drum on my steering wheel, sing at full pelt to try and drown the speakers and my head is shaking like it's an Anne Summers product testing evening! i'll be seeing thee N ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Sep 2000 09:56:12 -0700 (PDT) From: Alison Bellach Subject: Re: OV: tour > I do get to see Stroke 9 and Nine Days on campus next month, and then > Matchbox Twenty (probably my favorite band after DA) a few weeks after, > as well as Skillet twice in one weekend (Susan, I know you're jealous). This cracks me up. Caroline and I went to high school with Stroke 9 (and considering the fact that there were only 65 people in my class, it was a pretty damn small school) and they used to SUCK. In fact, I think they still do suck. They released "Little Black Backpack" on another album before this one and it was bad. Now it's only marginally better, IMO. If anyone wants a copy of their first album (with a pink cover... and I have the second one also... there were two before "nasty little thoughts") then I will be happy to make you a copy. It's TERRIBLE. Example lyric: "Carrie Anne... I want to hold your hand... I want to write your name with my finger in the sand..." There is ONE good song, called Marin, but I only like it because they talk about our school ("Marin County's a-okay, from Tam to Stinson all the way to M.A...") in it. Um, yeah. So, Stroke 9... ::shiver:: ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 07 Sep 2000 09:45:06 -0800 From: Melissa Wiechmann Subject: OV: Re: Tour > Ed wrote: > They're behaving like the cut-out bins. It wouldn't be easy, but if you look at the acts which have found a > mainstream audience in America, (No Doubt, Matchbox 20 come to mind), those > bands have toured relentlessly to make it happen. In the new Billboard (9/9/00) the cover story is: "The British Invasion: Why can't UK music conquer U.S.?" The opening paragraph states: "Quit moaning, make better records, and get back on the tour bus." Should be forward this article to the boys? I'll admit that I haven't been following what's been going on with the Dels, because nothing is going on with the Dels. Del fans have got to be the most loyal around to stick by while they take an extended three year holiday (an exaggeration I know, so don't yell at me please.) I agree wholeheartedly with Ed that they've got to quit being prima donnas and get out there and work. The truth is, maybe they don't want to. So, I guess we should be happy with the once every few years tours we can get over here. Next month I'm going to see Travis. This is like their third tour in a year. Maybe the Dels should take note of their countrymen's work ethic. What?? My little blue eyes green with jealousy??? I admit I might be under other circumstances, but I did get to see Skillet's fiery foursome in February and on Sept. 30 I'll once again be found at stage's edge admiring Kevin's riffs, Korey's kinetic energy, Lori's downbeat and that glittery guitar & levitation of John's. I'm the one that said Stroke 9 was on my play list...they are great! IMHO. I've heard the first release of Little Black Backpack...it did suck. I think the new release is good and even more, I think it to be very funny. I can't speak for their older stuff, lyrics ("Carrie Anne... I want to hold your hand... I want to write your name with my finger in the sand..." ), but the new album lyrically is superb... I interviewed Stroke 9 in St. Louis a few months back...they are down to earth, funny and put on a great live show. Great harmonies, killer lyrics along with catchy word-play makes their latest album (Nasty Little Thoughts) GREAT! One of my favorite bsides...right up there with Queen of False Alarms, Lighten up the load, long way down, and evidence. I got SOSP and Wakign hours at the same time. After the first listen, I thought that SOSP was a much better album than Waking hours (I think the middle tracks had to grow on me). I still like SOSP, though I don't pop it in just to play, but I guess I don't do that with waking hours either. Change Everything and Twisted (and Hatful of course) are the only ones that I can just let play through. I really like the first tracks of SOSP, but after Medicine, I'm just trying to hold on for Life is full, and after that, it doesn't break my heart to turn it off. Susan, your Skillet concerts are 2 days after mine. Last time I saw them, I didn't have invincible, so I'm really excited to see them again...I think it's skillet concert #5? #6 for me?
