For some reason an Australian edition of Hello magazine has recently been launched, I think it's about the 3rd issue out now and the weird thing is the cover story is about Esther Rantzen. Of all people? I doubt anyone has ever heard of her here, certainly we needed the Del reference explained to us. Thanks for that Jane because at least I knew who she was when I saw her. Somehow I can't see it being a big selling issue. And as long as I'm here can someone tell me where the Ace of Spades originated, and also what is Silver Condor You Could Take My Heart Away? I couldn't find it in Alison's b Side page so now I'm curious. Very strange! Although I think her husband, Desmond Wilcox, has done some documentaries Down under. >And as long as I'm here can someone tell me where the Ace of Spades > originated, and also what is Silver Condor You Could Take My Heart Away? I think I remember hearing that Lemmy (lead singer and bass) went to see the Dels and Iain forgot the words to Ace of Spades as he was so nervous. A few of us saw Motorhead at Guildford Festival a week or two back - but Eddie and I left before they did Ace of Spades - there is only so long you can listen to what sounds like the same song over and over again!! Ahhh, but that's what makes a hit! (remember 'She Loves You, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah?) Teresa Facts? I suppose it's Scared To Live - or any other song when Iain just lets rip with a fantastic guitar solo. Favourite live acoustic song has to be In The Frame and favourite cover is Mott The Hoople's Roll Away The Stone - simply becasue it was an old favourite and takes me back to when I was 15 every time I hear it. Just one song allowed Altho all were great, what springs to mind is 'Not Where Its At'; planted firmly at Iain's feet at the stage's edge I remember watching him play the nice guitar bits between each of Justin's lines & how he'd put these flourishes at the end... if I shut my eyes I can still see his hands, and those scratches on the Les Paul from all the silver he was wearing. Its time for some new memories, guys... come back to Atlanta soon. TTFN Susan ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Aug 2000 16:05:37 -0400 From: "Susan & C. My dear Jane, you are a wealth of information. I was just about to ask if Roll Away was a cover; I've recently heard the Dels do it but thought it sounded suspiciously like something from the 70's. The band name is familiar but I confess I don't remember Mott the Hoople's songs, as when I was 15 I was very into Electric Light Orchestra, Elton John, John Denver, and Rare Earth. (Bet none of ya'll remember that last one! They did a cover of the classic 'Get Ready' that is absolutely the best song to roller skate to...)
