I was starting to feel a little down, I have been asking people from Glasgow and Edinburgh what they think of Del Amitri and I haven't gotten any positive responses... but I was in a shop on the Royal Mile tday when Spitting in the Rain came on the local radio station, the shop owner started singing along with me, tapping his foot above the bony knee peeking out from his kilt(alright, it was a little touristy place, but at least they are still getting airplay here?). Off to Inverness on Friday, perhaps I can start a Del revolution there. Greetings from Edinburgh and welcome back! I am not sure when you lost your hard drive (and so sorry that you did! That's terrible!) but whenever I am sure that you didn't miss much as there is not much going on until the new album is released! Just thought I would drop you a note to say hello while I am on vacation (thank goodness for cyber cafes!), you have been good to me in the past and I have missed your posts from a fellow journalist! I am currently taking a course at the University of Edinburgh for Radio Journalism covering the Festival, it is incredible to say the least! Hope to see you posting again soon with another of your stories! Cheers, Nancy ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 08 Aug 2000 16:36:46 -0400 From: "Susan & C. Doesn't that bit about "you-hoo-hoo" bounce back into your memory at the oddest times, even after you've only heard the song once?! Its irresistible! Can't wait to hear it on an album, hopefully along with 'Cringe' which has a definite edge to it & some guitar work that's mmmm mmmm good. I'm doing my bit to promote the band; delivered 22 paintings to a gallery in Ellijay, Georgia this morning for a 2-month long solo exhibit, including the big originals of buzz-cut Justin, shaggy Iain and sweet Andy and just during the short time there had to answer 3 questions about "who ARE these guys??" Maybe by the time the exhibit ends, a few more north Georgia souls will have heard of Del Amitri. I've only heard it once, a few summers ago, and it's still stuck in my head! What about "drunk in a band"....any news if this is being recorded for the album??? Man, it really seems in the short time (seems short to me a least) since Roll To Me left the charts, del has dropped off of the radar. Not that I mind so much, I still consider them “my” little band after 8 years but sometimes it’s nice to know people know who the hell they are. I'm not much of a "chatter" but I've started working 4 to midnight doing tech support and had some time on my hands when it gets to the wee part of the evening so I thought I’d might try going to a chat room to kill time. I guess a long time ago I got the Yahoo screen name del_amitri, I don't remember getting it but I'll take it. I went in to the music chat room on Yahoo and NO ONE and I mean NO ONE seemed to know who they were. The only person who knew who they were, was in another room and asked if they were still a band. Kinda sad.. Oh also, my Radio del amitri site was booted off of the “air”. I guess you can’t have a station playing just one artist all the time, it violates some law somewhere. Not the happiest mail I’ve ever sent, but I guess some good news is I’m moving to Boston in three weeks! Whoohoo! New bars to drink at, new record shops to scour. I hope my computer survives the move I’d hate to loose all my del mp3’s. B - ----------------------------------------------- FREE! I'm half listening, but more looking at my hands covered in rubber cement and little scraps of paper as I'm trying to complete this latest project of mine, and I hear Justin sing, "mm-mm boy" but for some reason expect him to say "mmm bop". He doesn't of course, and instead of the song becoming a brillant Hanson cover, it stays the ever wonderful Del Amitri, but I was better after the whole thing, because I laughed my pants off. So the reason I share is just because I figured some of you might want to have a bit of help getting through Wednesday. Not like this will help incredibly, but maybe when you hear Learn to Cry you'll smile, just a little bit. Also, is there any way to cut off parts of mp3s? I have this awesome song by Poe called "Fly Away" but at the end it goes silent for a few seconds and then this weird talking comes on, and I always forget it's there and it freaks me out every time.
