I can't count the number of times people have asked "Del who?" over the past year or so when they've seen me wearing a T-shirt or my fleece or baseball cap. It's really sad - and makes me worry for the next album. Will it get any airplay? I doubt it'll get much. Virgin Radio like them - Chris Evans and Russ Williams play them regularly, and Radio 2 (which has always been considered the middle aged or old person's radio) plays them occasionally - on the way home from holiday we had Radio 2 on in the car and suddenly I heard the opening bars to Kiss This Thing Goodbye - but the listeners to this station tend not to be regular record buyers. Radio One most likely won't play them - they don't play anyone over 25 yrs old as a rule these days. Our only real hope is that they produce a really catchy single and get a lot of TV coverage. The outlook is possibly even more bleak in the States. Not Where It's At was possibly the last single to make any significant impact on the charts - at least in England. DCHTS of course did very well in Scotland. SOSP was played - but not as much, and CTBF just bombed. It's going to be up to us to bombard the radio stations etc and get as much airplay as we possibly can. Anyway I hope you had a great time over here Nancy - and next time any of you is over in the UK let us know - it would be great to meet up. Argh! I do sound pessimistic and gloomy - but it is early on a Monday morning. Jane ------------------------------ End of oppositeview-digest V2 #77 *********************************
