So I thought I'd check out the Dels resources on the web. Not one to really understand Tabs and things but wanting to strum along with some of my favourite tunes. I discovered this little site - which has chord progressions that even I - who after five years of guitar lessons could still only strum the chords of the Eagles Greatest Hits - can understand and play. It's nothing like as comprehensive as The 5th Fret - but a nice little site anyway. Got all sorts of other bands there too. She also says.... <> That is quite a line! Leah writes..... << Nothing Ever Happens has so many great lines, but my favorite explaining the way we are is: Angry from Manchester writes to complain about all the repeats on TV...>> Well, there is hardly a line from that song that doesn't rank absurdly high on anyone's all-time list, I'm sure....... I've written here before about the line "Janitors padlock the gates, for security guards to patrol".....just stop and think about that line for a moment....are not the janitors just handing off an emptiness and loneliness to the security guards, who then take their stewardship of it so seriously. Then in turn they will hand it back off to the janitors the following morning? Wow! What a wonderfully ironic twist of fate! And how 'bout this one? "Closed circuit cameras in department stores shoot the same movie everyday..." "And the stars of these films neither die nor get killed, just survive constant action replayed...." What a delightful view on the futility of the sameness of everyday life, and at the same time it delivers the thought in such a compelling frame, and with a wonderfully well-metered rhythm. And it even rhymes to boot! Wow! Jeff ------------------------------ End of oppositeview-digest V2 #45 *********************************
