If you have ever seen them live, and I have (I'm 30, but I still live by the creed "Don't knock it until you try it", now I can knock them because I've tried it), you will notice the band playing behind them, and I mean literally a whole band, drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, the whole shebang in the shadows back stage. They are not really hidden but there are no lights on them and they never acknowledge their presence. So people who say "But they play their own instruments" are not really telling the whole truth, especially the little kid on drums, I really don't think they mic his kit at all. But hey, the Monkeys didn't play their own stuff at first, now look at them...fat old men, so there is still hope. Bill - ----------------------------------------------- FREE! They played live on Letterman about a month ago and I kept looking for the tell-tale signs of miming, overdubs, etc and nope - it 'twas them & only them. It sounded like an acoustic version of their latest hit - keyboard, drums & bass and it wasn't half bad at all, I must say. So grudgingly once again, I'm thinking they might actually deserve the accolades they've been getting (if not the album sales). Wow ~ congratulations to both of you! I'm in awe, as I never ever win anything. Sounds like you had a marvelous time; when the program airs stateside, will we be able to see you two on screen? > I was just thinking how fantastic it would be if the Dels could do this > Storytellers show - perhaps we could all email VH-1 and suggest them. Now that would be my idea of heaven, to have Del Amitri on one of those wonderful shows... and be in the audience as well. I'm up for it so count me in! I think you probably will - I was up dancing all the time (well moving my body around in a strange way) - and guess what - tonight we won tickets to see Travis record their Storytellers show - and for one song I was the only one dancing. I felt a bit of a prat - but would have looked more of one if I'd sat down. We were right by the band, I had my question all ready to ask, something to the effect that they come from Glasgow - where so many great bands come from like Del Amitri - which Glaswegian bands influenced them. But alas, Fran didn't ask me :- (I would have loved to have given the Dels a plug on VH-1). When it airs, hopefully you lot will all be able to understand his accent - as he speaks like Justin - but the majority of Americans - and English - will probably need sub-titles :-)) I'm definitely going to try to get the Dels on this show. Let's all email VH-1 on a regular basis. It's an intimate thing - just 250 in the audience - and tickets are mostly offered to fan club or website people. It would be a real blast. Off to try to get some sleep Jane PS for Libby - Fran Healey was wearing jeans. Not a kilt in sight I'm afraid. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Jun 2000 09:00:45 +0100 From: Eddie Armstrong Subject: OV: RE: Hanson Why is it spelt "5ive" ?
