The funny thing is that the only serious review I've read of the new Hanson album said something like "it's surprisingly good actually". Hanson write their own stuff don't they? Do Boyzone? Has anyone else heard the Hanson album? I haven't but I'm starting to get a little curious about it... Most recent "great" rock album: Radiohead, "OK Computer". later! Unbelievable..................must go have to need to listen to Drivin with Brakes On. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Jun 2000 10:32:39 -0500 From: "Jen Woyan" Subject: OV: Re: Re: Hanson All Time Great Rock Gods Shocker So Hanson was all it took to get Nigel out of hiding? Well-noted.... Cheers, Jen in Chicago (who will be at Summerfest in Milwaukee on 3rd July for her friend Joey's band's 9th appearance at the fair ( see http://www.jdcaravan.com - Libby & Andrew highly recommend their live show I'm told...) to be followed by a rare appearance of John Hiatt - both on the Leinie Lodge stage. Perhaps some of the OV'ers in the area can touch base beforehand?) - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Saturday, June 24, 2000 6:30 AM Subject: OV: Re: Hanson All Time Great Rock Gods Shocker > << I have just listened to the whole Hanson CD (This Time Around) for anout > the > 8th time, and I have to say to all of you, this is going to go down as one > of the all time rock albums! We've just come back from the recording and it was a fantastic evening - an audience of just 250 (including Baby Spice - who was sitting a few feet away from us) and Duran Duran performing some of their most famous songs and telling the stories behind them. They also threw in about half their new album as an added bonus, and jammed on a couple of numbers by The Doors. The Duranies are just about to embark on a US tour - from July to September. If they are playing anywhere near you - go and see them! The new album is fantastic - and they are playing so well. Although I liked them in the 80's I was always more of a Spandau girl - and never got to see them back then - although Eddie did. But I was so excited to see them now - and I'm looking forward to seeing them next time they tour the UK. The show should be aired sometime at the end of August - so watch out for Eddie and I! Travis are recording at the same place tomorrow - and we entered to win tickets to that too - so you never know...... Bray Studios, where the recording took place, has a great history as far as Rock and Roll is concerned. All the major bands have rehearsed for their tours there - Pink Floyd, Elton John, Dire Straits - and Live Aid and the Freddie Mercury Tribute concerts were also rehearsed there. It has been used by MTV/VH-1 for years - my friend went to see Eric Clapton Unplugged there. I was just thinking how fantastic it would be if the Dels could do this Storytellers show - perhaps we could all email VH-1 and suggest them. And Kevin could arrange with JPR for us all to get tickets...... Anyone else up for it?
