Ah yes, I miss those days! (That's our dear "Ginchy Tinselsex" at his best!) At the Shank Hall show in Milwaukee just after Justin had cut his hair off, he made a comment to the audience about it, using some word like "sloushing," or "sluicing." He was obviously not used to his hair being gone, saying he didn't know what to do anymore when he sweats during a show, as it used to just go "sloushing" down his long hair, but now that his hair was gone, it just all drips down in his face. Did everyone who went last year get this? Just curious. We ordered our tickets on-line direct from the Basilica last year and so that's probably why we got it. (Watch for this Louanne. BoDeans pic in it - although they could've picked a better one. It's the one where they are standing in front of a cemetery. I think I know exactly which cemetery this is. ;>) ) Cindy ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Jun 2000 12:54:47 -0400 From: "Susan & C. Must not be up to form as it was when Darren and crew were at the helm! What's in it nowadays, Jane? I remember really enjoying the articles. I've kept my issues and re-read some of them not too long ago. It was such fun to read the stuff sent in by Karen Nesbitt, Teresa Couch, ChrisF and some of the characters I had the pleasure of meeting in Chicago at the DelFest 98. TTFN Susan who actually bought a pair of blue suede sandals this week!! Carl Perkins & Elvis would be proud! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Jun 2000 17:13:05 -0500 From: "Jen Woyan" Subject: OV: Straight from the horse's mouth (so to speak)...(periferal Dels content) The following is a link to an article now posted to Salon.com written by Courtney Love. It outlines, fairly concisely, the trials and tribulations of a "normal" recording contract from her experienced perspective. It also goes in-depth into the realities of being a working musician in today's world - from the copyright issues now being debated in Congress to how the Internet REALLY affects the artist. This stuff is interesting to keep in mind while we follow the latest developments of the boys' new CD.... I'm not a big fan of the woman in general, but what she's done here I consider a great service to other artists, upcoming "baby bands" and the buying public and I'm glad it was said by someone "from the inside" as well as someone of such high profile. I did a bit on the air last night about Napster. A story came over the wire in which it described planned action by the american recording industry to shut Napster down. This all comes on the heels of the Metallica fiasco. Personally, I believe that there is a place for Napster. Let's face it - a LOT of us like single songs from certain bands. I love old Nik Kershaw, and David Bowie, but do you think I can find a copy of "Let's Dance"? (FYI - it is no longer printed in North America). I have pulled a lot of my favourite 80's tunes off the net like Nik and some Duran, Del and Madonna just to name a few. I've also sampled tunes that we don't have here in Canada yet (Madison Avenue for one!). My question is . . . what do you think?? I'd just like to hear a few other opinions. Metallica believe that by downloading songs (or in some cases, people are pulling whole ALBUMS), we the listening public are taking food off their plates and money from their swiss bank accounts. Should the too rich enetrtainnent industry (at least here in N.A) shut their collective hole, or do they have a real arguement. Being a Nik Kershaw fan, I like the green grass exactly where I am, thanks - but I could do without all of this %^&$(%* rain!!
