Does anyone remember what I'm talking about? It turned me into an anti-hunting supporter - of course, at the age of 9 I had no idea the song was about the Viet Nam war, but that attests to the genius of the Muppets... I think PETA needs to get their hands on that and use it to recruit people. :) Claire ===== - - Just give me the coffee and nobody gets hurt. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? As you will recall, we advised you at that time that we were looking to raise finance for Index The Web as a means of enabling us to finance the resolution of outstanding Tunnel Records orders. As you will also recall, we stopped taking credit card orders in February, and closed the Web site for orders in April. We stopped taking orders by post also at that time. We also canceled $12,500 of unpaid orders, and refunded about $27,000 of credit card orders. I'm also assuming that, unless we have been told directly, everyone that we requested a chargeback has had, or are getting, their money back. That's taken all the cash that we have, but we have managed to resolve most of the outstanding problems. We are not however prepared to carry on selling Concert CDs in the light of declining suppliers, invalid credit card transactions and a minority of increasingly acrimonious customers, and we do still need to clear the remaining orders. It does not look likely that we are going to be able to get money for Index the Web, and we have therefore to resort to another plan. We have now sold most of the computer equipment and sadly laid off all the staff. We are no longer therefore able to process e-mail replies, for which I apologize. Existing stock is being sold to recoup money, with the exception of stock which has been allocated to customers, whether this be for an order or for a credit-transferred order. Money raised by selling stock is being used to fund order shipments and processing. Orders are sent out whenever we have money to do this. Similarly, orders for ARTISAN titles will be sent out whenever we have the money to do this. All credit transferred orders which have been sent to us in the two months or so have been allocated onto the order file, but we may not have had a chance to advise you of this. A list of current stock is available on the web site - if you have an existing credit, please ignore the "do not purchase" notes on the web site - these are to ensure that no further new orders are placed by new or existing customers. All other orders will either be refunded or arrangements made individually to replace the order with existing stock. This line of action will take place slowly, over a period of time. I do not know how long this will take at this time, but I aim to resolve all orders. There is enough stock available to resolve this problem, but not if we have to sell it quickly. I would like to apologize once again for the hurt and confusion which this series of events has given rise to. I would like to thank all of those customers who have given their support and encouragement. A thank you also to those people who were willing to work on Index the Web as "Web Guides" or otherwise offer their advice and expertise. It is a real shame that this is not going to be able to go forward, but thank you anyway. This will be the last general e-mailing that I will be sending out. Any further communications will be only with customers with existing orders. It's been an interesting five years, during which we have shipped over 120,000 orders to collectors around the world. The task now is to make sure that the last several hundred do not lose out. He is one of those artists with a 10,000 pound soul that seems to jump off the disc into your living room. I'm pretty sure he must be an influence for the Dels. If you're looking for a good album to tide you over til the next Justin & co. try "Walk On", "Slow Turning" or "Bring the Family". I have to add that it seems to me that Del Amitri sound very American. They write a better American tune than most of us statesiders. They are the youngest band that I really admire. Nice to see someone carrying the torch for the next generation (whether they have there fingers on its pulse or not). Anybody got a list of the documented major influences for Del Amitri? Someone mentioned World Party. Is he still putting out albums? I quite enjoyed the few he put out in the late eighties although I thought it was a little too easy to play "spot the influence" with. I've been considering picking up the new Don Henley album because I've enjoyed his previous work. Any other folks with opinions on the new album? The clock's reading SOS so I better get going. Ha!! I don't remember this part of the show, Claire (although I definitely remember the original song, the war, etc.), but I thought it was funny that you wrote a Muppets post in which there was Dels content. They did this song at Summerfest in '96, part of it anyway, in a medley. (GASP! Can it possibly be that long ago or do I have my years mixed up??) Brett wrote: > I wanted to call attention to one of my > favorite American songwriters, John Hiatt. John Hiatt is one of my absolute favorites. He also has a Best Of CD out that's excellent if anyone is not familiar with him. Some of my fave drivin' songs are on there, too. I put on "Drive South" and just want to keep going! ;>) Ed wrote: > The Game of Love/Wayne Fontana & the Mindbenders The Game of Love - love, Love - love, La-la-la-la-la-LOVE!!!! (If I'm singing this all day, it's all your fault!) Have a good day, everyone. I'm sure I'll be taking John Hiatt CD's with me when I drive to work today! Well, it seems it paid off! Tuesday night they played a "4-Pack" of Del Amitri. I didn't hear it, a co-worker did who knows of my fondness for the music. Who said requests don't work?????
