One fittingly eccentric highlight of DelFest 98 in Chicago for some of us statesiders was the privilege of trying Irn Bru for the first time. So this morning when I read this, I just had to share: "New York City has been chosen as a test market for Scotland's best-selling soft drink, Irn Bru... While Irn Bru is expected to be a hit with Scots expatriates, it remains to be seen whether Americans will take to it. The drink was originally created to prevent thirsty Scottish miners from consuming alcohol during breaks..." Well that last bit explains the extreme taste to me anyway! What nice memories I have of DelFest... hard to believe it was that long ago. Have a good week, all ya'll! And, I find that I love hearing the singer and/or band speaking on a recording, either before or after the sing. Such as, the dels doing "This Side of the Morning" at some ungodly hour in a car park. I know that there are a bunch more, but of course, I'm totally blanking on them right now. Come on, you guys, help those of us who suffer from CRAFT syndrome -- you know, Can't Remember An F'ng Thing... and Lauree wrote: > I think We're Alone Now by Tommy James and the Shondells That's a great blast it in the car song, too, Lauree! I adore the few Tommy James songs that I know: didn't they also do Crimson and Clover. And, am I totally off base with the recollection that they did One is the Loneliest Number? >And Sherry, I love Mark Morris. His dance troupe performed in Scottsdale a >couple years ago, and he was Fabulous! Yippeee! Thank you for knowing who he is, Lauree! Not only is he incredibly talented, but he is sooo nice. I'm so excited because I'm going to see Baryshnikov dance with The White Oak Dance Project (a joint project with Morris) on Friday! And for those of you who don't mind too much when I tell you about my celebrity sightings, we have one more: Quentin Tarantino having a latte at Starbucks in the West Village. (I must admit that I see him there pretty frequently, though). Mucho gracias to all those posters who made me feel significantly less old than I had been feeling with my posts about Bobby Sherman and the Partridge Family! Fortunately, we are passed the Barney phase in our house but I have paid my dues with Barney's Hits Volume I. Our favorite driving music include two different albums. The Dels "Waking Hours" (my 8 year old daughter LOVES Jimmy Blue) and Crowded House "Suffer Never." My son's fave to listen to at home is CH's "Pineapple Head" which unfortunately is not on Suffer Never. >From: "Susan & C. Well, it's been years now, but I remember my son's favorite on Muppets being Oscar the Grouch and he used to sit in his garbage can (Oscar, not my son!) and sing a song. This song used to be a favorite at our house, but I can't remember how it goes. (Actually, my son had a covered toy box that he used to sit in and pretend he was Oscar in his can!! ;>) Those were the days! ) Cindy ------------------------------ End of oppositeview-digest V2 #19 *********************************
