Now that the weather here has gotten warm (for at least a day - let's hope!!) I know what you mean about certain songs that just have to be listened to cranked up with the windows down. I have a 40 mile drive to work, so I have a lot of these kinds of songs! I haven't had time to compile an actual list, but here's what immediately popped into my head when I read your post, two of which I actually did have cranked up yesterday with the windows down! "Say About Love" - BoDeans (the Joe Dirt Car version) "Sharp Dressed Man" - ZZ Top (for this one, I've usually gotta put on the cruise control to keep myself from speeding! In no time at all, I find myself clipping along at 85 when this is playing! ;>0 ) "What's Up?" - 4 Non-Blondes "One Headlight" - Wallflowers Cindy ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 May 2000 14:49:22 -0500 From: Leah D Schenkenberg Subject: Re: OV: pop and WITSS pop isn't necessarily a bad word, but it does carry associations. For my friends who don't care for pop and the groups they associate with that word, I could never say "Del Amitri is pop" because of their negative connotations associated with the word. Rap doesn't necessarily mean "bad", it just describes a sound. But if you don't like rap, then yeah, it means "bad" in your brain. Same with pop. I had never heard What I Think She Sees until the Minneapolis show, so I'm not sure if he added the ending or not....I just remember it was beautiful. That really was a great show. If anyone else is going to the Basilica Block Party this summer, please email me privately? I might be going alone, and it'd be cool to meet some of you for more than 3 seconds this time. I sit down to check my e-mail, and the first message I read is one from another music mailing list I am a member of. It was from a new member introducing himself, and he mentioned The Poilice as being one of his favorite bands. I thougt that was kinda cool, since I'm listening to them right now. Then I check my second message, and it's an OV posting, and the signature reads: Gina There's a king on a throne with his eyes torn out; There's a blind man looking for a shadow of doubt. There's a rich man sleeping on a golden bed; There's a skeleton choking on a crust of bread... ~ sting That's from the song, "King Of Pain" by...Yup!...The Police once again! And this was the song I listened to JUST before opening the e-mail! I must be on the global musical wavelength or something! HAHA!! Just wanted to share that. (Know this one, Leah? Its brand new!) Those two songs always make me push it a bit above the speed limit! My favorite Skillet song is "I Can". I have this dream of acoustifying it kind of like Tori Amos sings "smells like Teen Spirit" and doing it with piano. Driving songs: Currently the most played one in my car is Bent, the new Matchbox 20 song. I love that Third Eye Blind song (Never Let you Go) and Tempted by Squeeze has got to be the ultimate cruising song of all time (who's seen Reality Bites?) As far as Del Amitri cruising stuff, Queen of False Alarms has got to be the ultimate "holy cow, I'm going 80 already" song. AND YEA!!!! We do have another sting fan here. I have a fellow stinger and a panhead (skillet)....I feel normal all of a sudden, like I'm not the only one who likes these people. I know sting is pretty huge, but in my age group, not really. Some people my age think that Every Breathe You Take is a song by Puff Daddy...what is the world coming too? What will happen when people forget American Pie isn't originally a Madonna song?
