I'm sure she'd appreciate a montage (everyone likes a montage right?) of our faces. I think she would think: 1) what a bunch of nuts or 2) Oh my god, isn't it wonderful all these people have taken the time to do this for my birthday? How supported do I feel? In fact would a video of our faces be better? We could send the private link to someone who knows Joni personally and they can show it to her on their iphones/iPads (other smartphone/tablet devices are available). It's remarkable to me that you were able to send this and the painting is stunning. I wonder if the poster said something like Please Call Joni at 222-2222 if you find him. That would be great to see. My friend made a poster too for my little Kiki. I learned a couple of things. Don't give up and don't shout your cats name. They demand that you approach them respectfully. As my friend says, Kiki's got you wrapped around her finger (paw perhaps). I went to a wolf/farm once near Banff and realized that the wolves are very similar to cats. You can waive a steak in a pure wolf's face and he won't react, won't come running, just like when you call a cat, nothing! May we all be inspired to create and share beauty as you have Kakki! Man From Mars is beautiful and one of my favorites. I heard that Joni was distraught and actually did the painting of the lost Nietzche after he ran off and then a friend made up missing cat poster prints of the painting and nailed them up all over her Bel Air neighborhood. What I would have given for one of those prints! Here is a link to the painting. http://pietmondriaan.com/pm/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/238.jpg Kakki ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2015 #642 ***************************** ------- To post messages to the list, sendto joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Oct 2015 14:49:58 +0000 From: "Susan E. But I love TI because it demonstrates a clear sonic picture of Joni's miraculous guitar style ... including a masterful right hand, incredibly innovative tunings (Magdalene Laundries, TI, and Last Chance Lost especially) and her continuing unmatched songwriting skills ... My God still blown away each time I listen to it. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-joni@smoe.org [mailto:owner-joni@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Bob.Muller@Fluor.com Sent: Tuesday, October 13, 2015 8:18 AM To: Barbara Sullivan Cc: joni@smoe.org Subject: Re: J MITCHELL turbulent indigo FULL ALBUM I remember getting this CD and really being blown away and surprised by it. I picked it up from the BMG music club after it won a Grammy (for "Best Pop Vocal Album"). Certainly not what I'd call POP music, especially in terms of lyrics and subject matter. A very angry and violent record, but musically for me it was a return to the softer more acoustic sound of Hejira. I did love the sound of the record. Contains a rare cover (How Do You Stop) and a rare co-written song (Yvette). This album has aged very well for me, though I've never been fond of "Not To Blame".
