It could be a photo montage of the beautiful places on earth where we've listened to Joni's music. The picture could be with or without the fan but with a brief description and maybe a tie-back to one of her songs. For example I listened to her in Grace Harbor, BC on a boat. I could have a picture of Grace Harbor, and below a lyric from "This Place". "Spirit of the water Give us all the courage and the grace" With iPods and phones I bet people have listened from some beautiful nature spots, plus some urban shots would be cool too (Night in the City for example). It might give her the feeling that her music is heard everywhere. Anyone been to Antarctica? It's remarkable to me that you were able to send this and the painting is stunning. I wonder if the poster said something like Please Call Joni at 222-2222 if you find him. That would be great to see. My friend made a poster too for my little Kiki. I learned a couple of things. Don't give up and don't shout your cats name. They demand that you approach them respectfully. As my friend says, Kiki's got you wrapped around her finger (paw perhaps). I went to a wolf/farm once near Banff and realized that the wolves are very similar to cats. You can waive a steak in a pure wolf's face and he won't react, won't come running, just like when you call a cat, nothing! May we all be inspired to create and share beauty as you have Kakki! A very angry and violent record, but musically for me it was a return to the softer more acoustic sound of Hejira. I did love the sound of the record. This one is worth sharing. My cat ran away and I have to admit I was at the end of my rope chasing her whenever she got out. She got out before and she did return although it wasn't till 3 in the morning. This time I saw her jump over the wall and I just thought she'll be back somewhat resigned to her maybe not returning at all (big mistake). I googled the lyrics to "Man from Mars" and there was the story about how Joni got fed up with her cat and threw him out and then he disappeared for around 19 days. I said to myself, well, at least I didn't throw her out even though I love her madly. Then I had hope too that my girl "Kiki" (named after a witch Kiki Mora) would come back with only a few days gone by. But I was truly tormented with guilt and fear because I had to leave my door open and have been burglarized twice this year. So 4 days later, I woke up very early at 6 am and there is a large school yard beyond my house. I was wishing on the stars which I always do when I can see them and I called her name and sure enough, I heard her meowing. I threw on some clothes and went around a very large chain link fence into the school yard and could still hear her meowing. Sure enough I found her under one of the buildings and then I had to coax her out and catch her, easier said than done. Anyway, the happy ending is that I got her home with a scratch or two because she reacted to a couple of cars. I can't really say enough about how that song helped me get through this. I could tell you more miraculous stories about Kiki but I know some people get bored with pet and cat stories. I'm so happy that Joni took the time to paint and sing about her beloved animals and make me feel worthy of their love. The animals are gods to me. They only come to visit from heaven. We must honor and respect them for the short time they are here. Thanks Joni fans! Now I can play that song again but I won't promise I won't be crying again., Steve S. and Kiki Mora in San Francisco ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Oct 2015 22:33:33 +0100 From: lawntreader@googlemail.com Subject: Re: JMDL Birthday Card for Joni Been thinking all evening about what would have more 'oooomphh'......I have failed, but so pleased you're up for another go, Sue, Anita > On 14 Oct 2015, at 21:33, Michael Paz wrote: > > great idea > > > > > On Oct 14, 2015, at 12:49 PM, Susan E. Here are Joni, Graham, David an me in the studio (Wally Heider's) in Los Angeles with CS&N in 1969--Love love love her, since the first time I heard her sing "Both Sides Now" to me, on the phone, in the middle of the night, when Al Kooper called me at three in the morning and put her on the phone- Al had followed her home from a "Blood Sweat and Tears" show in the city- because shesaid she wrote songs and she was goood looking (!) and how could he lose? Why I woke up at 3 in the morning, from a sound sleep (?) when I am quite sure I must have been drunk, is a miracle that only fate can account for. I love Joni and her songs, and have been passionate about them since that night. A new Judy sings Joni CD? I think so-that is certainly in the future --mine and yours, I hope- but what is going on with her?
