He also wears some sort of talisman thing on a chain around his neck which reminds me of Joni with her gold eagle during Last Waltz. She wrote Coyote around the time of Don Juan with its eagle references so it must be related (like stations in a relay?). In AA this morning we were talking about spirituality and trying to understand what it really means. Watching Last Waltz someone said about Neil, "you know who pinned that feather on his sleeve don't you?" I don't think of Joni as particularly religious but she seems to draw heavily from spirits of different cultures. I remember her house in Arch. Digest had a big albino turtle shell above the mantle and a table covered in white snake skin (my boring stuff is mostly from Crate and Barrel). I think of Joni as one of the most spiritual people there is, whatever that exactly means.
