He seems such a hard working person and he made me laugh a lot. I felt immensely grateful to him for coming to see me deliver my paper but, above all else, felt pride that a member of JMDL, Jamie, was reading for Malka. I go a bit goosey remembering. That hour was the best of the day for me. Anita > On 8 Aug 2015, at 04:40, Mark Scott wrote: > > Thank you so much Catherine. Malka is just the way I imagined her. And Jamie is a beautiful man with a beautiful, expressive voice. It is always exciting to me to see people in the performing arts who are actually finding and doing good work. I have friends who are actors and I don't think they have done anything else since they left grad school. They aren't famous, they aren't rich. But they earn their livings doing the work they were trained to do and that they love. To me, that is the true meaning of success, especially for artists of any kind. From what I gather from Jamie's resume and various postings here and to Facebook, he is a successful actor/performer and I applaud him. > > Mark in Seattle > > -----Original Message----- From: Catherine McKay > Sent: Friday, August 7, 2015 2:34 PM > To: lawntreader@googlemail.com ; Joni > Subject: Re: Malka's Talk at the University of Lincoln > > Absolutely. As I was fortunate to to be there with Steph and Jamie (didn't he do well?) I wasn't sure how the interview would work as a video on YouTube. However, I was as captivated and enthralled as I was on the day, almost feeling myself in that club in Toronto watching the young woman in the corner tuning and retuning her guitar before launching into songs of exceptional innovation and artistry. Malka's passion, love and respect for her dear friend shine throughout the video. I thoroughly enjoyed this video; absolutely lovely. And it's good to hear, at the end, that Joni is doing so well. Kate of the North b?b 1b.b?b 1b.b?b 1b.
