It is good news isn't it? I feel so pleased all round. My paper is now finished, as is my Powerpoint and I have had a run through how long it takes, so I'm ready. I would really love it if you and Sue and so many others were there. Maybe one day. Disappointed to not make Bob's Fest as it sounds like it will be wonderful, but I guess we can't always do everything. My life has been crazy these past weeks with the Favourite Aunties and this and family matters, but it reminds me I am still here and, thank the Great Spirit or whatever that so is Joni! B I so wish I could attend the conference: B I've long felt that Joni's work was ripe for a symposium like this. But luckily, I can rely on friends in the audience and at the podium for all the news. B ;-) Anita, I'm so happy you'll be presenting. . .and of course, that Malka will be there as keynote speaker. Although I have read the story and seen Malka telling it in the WOHAM documentary, hearing it this morning gave me goose bumps. Malka - such love and passion....fabulous. Then they played snippets of COY and the 2000 BSN and there I am sobbing. I know those of you who know me know I am soft, but really.....how after all these years does that still happen? It crossed my mind that I never saw it so I looked and its in the library for 2015. In it Plant talks a bit about Joni, in case you missed it. His song pick is Travelogue's Amelia. I sometimes have used the Plant/Page connection as bait for a potential budding Joniphile. I try not to press it; don't want a look that says "kindly stay away"! Pages's remarks about Joni in RS, calling her a genius and that he listened to C&S "all the time" at home directly led me to picking it up as my first one. That may be the greatest Joni article I've ever seen. So many great photos. And I find it most interesting to hear from other musicians rather than critics." Why does that article sound so familiar?? B Oh, yeah. . .I typed it! B ;-) A few of my favorite parts were Graham Nash's feelings about the song "Willy," which Joni wrote for him, and the fact that he still sends her flowers on her birthday; B Larry Klein's thoughts about, and strong reactions to, "Chinese Cafe/Unchained Melody," and Robben Ford discussing Joni's gentle way of suggesting new ideas in the studio, as well as her joy in creating new music. Along with Jeff, I also love seeing the appreciation of Joni by her fellow musicians.
