Maybe out of respect to his current wife. They were divorced thirty five years ago after all. James talks alot about his ongoing sobriety in the interview. I understand Crosby was on Sterns show the other day. If anyone knows how to send that link I would really enjoy listening to it, I sure don't know how to do it. I don't think anyone else been such a consistent, enthusiastic, vocal supporter of Joni publicly. He certainly understands her genius completely and is able to articulate it to other people, as evidenced in this recent mini Joni tribute video. If he occasionally puts his boot in his mouth it can serve as a reminder to anyone to think before speaking, thus saving the embarrassment of publicly apologizing thru national media outlets.Jeff, not above gossipNP: Neil Young, A Man Needs a Mermaid ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 May 2015 12:37:56 +0200 From: VM Subject: Documentary It would seem to have been extracted neither from Woman of Heart and Mind nor from Legends of the Canyon. I checked my archives yesterday and I could not find anything, that's why I was thinking about a TV program. As the Canyon was home to many musicians, it could be possible that there is more than one documentary... The one I have is archived as 2012 I need to check the JM.com Vincenzo It looks like the documentary clip Vincenzo linked is rather from Legends of the Canyon (2013). He talks about bringing Joni to LA (at 21:10), getting all his friends wasted and then bringing her out to play. He also admits that Joni is who "Guinnivere" is about somewhat (52:24). As with the James Taylor interview by Stern, as some have noted, Stern interrupts a lot and suggests things that didn't happen so Crosby says, "Well, let me tell you what really happened" There was the usual longtime clash on when Crosby Stills & Nash came together. Stills says it was at Mama Cass's (because he says he was far too intimidated in front of Joni), and all others say it was at Joni's. I can't imagine a cooler environment to have been in and, believe me, I was in Connecticut as a teenager reading Rolling Stone about all these fantastic people, listening to their unbelievable music, and wishing to God I could get there and be part of it. Good news on Crosby, he apologizes profusely to Daryl Hannah for saying unkind things about her now that she is girlfriend to Neil Young. He basically says what right do I have to make a judgment on her I was the one in a Texas prison, not her! One thing that does bug me about the Crosby interview is his insistence that he can smoke pot when he wants to, that it's his decision. Uh, sir, that is the kind of thinking that got you in so much trouble with substances in the first place; the drugs always win. But that's just my own personal tangential interest in addiction/sobriety, etc. I am so glad for David, that he has/had the wherewithal to recognize Joni's brilliance all those many years ago and use whatever influence he could to get her heard. He also says he was quite the juvenile delinquent as a youngster but I really think it has to do with his very intelligent mind that probably didn't fit in the system I'll shut up now and enjoy the small fact of seeing a license plate this morning, "MAARCIE" which of course has sent me off on a singing frenzy Blessings to our beloved Joan.
