Driving to the office this morning, I was listening to James being interviewed by H. Stern (ironic? dichotic? odd, anyway). James had his acoustic guitar - amazing. The short of it is that, while James was recounting the Joni years, James mentioned (I paraphrase) that (regarding the recent "event"), "Joni had a 'scare', but is doing much, much bettter". Thought I should pass this along. James had some great Joni stories. On the other hand, the "OnlyJoni" digests through 17 May 2015 are listed; see http://www.smoe.org/lists/onlyjoni/ (I've actually never much cared for the digests but that's mainly because people still don't "trim" when they reply to a digest or they leave "JMDL Digest V2014 #632" (or whatever) in the subject line and I often end up ignoring those posts.) I have noticed that replies to requests to su*bscribe take longer to receive than used to be the case. Those replies used to be pretty much "instant," but now they can take an hour or so to receive. I don't mean to sound panicky at all but we really ought to be considering an alternate plan. Maybe it doesn't feel "urgent" because so many of us have been here for so long that we're in touch via other methods (Facebook, regular email, texts, whatever). However, we will lose out on new members if the smoe servers crash. For me, new members have always been a welcome "injection" to the group and I would hate to lose out on those new people. Just my additional two cents. I really don't have any solutions other than the ones I mentioned previously. B I think the list did not start on smoe, so we've already made a move at least once (although Bob, I'm not as certain of this as I was of the start date! ;-)) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 May 2015 14:33:00 +0000 (UTC) From: gpkm6208@comcast.net Subject: Re: #2247 smoe nervous breakdown I apologize for the email sent yesterday.B I was attempting to post a pic that Henry Diltz (I think you all are familiar with him from his early photos of Joni) had posted on his fb page.B Anyway, the subject of his pic was Johnny Rivers at a faire in California 1968.B There is a woman in the pic who I am fairly certain is Joni and was asking the listers if anyone could confirm.B Again, sorry.B I believe I am too challenged technology wise to post the pic.B Peace, Gerry - ----- Original Message ----- From: lcs4bike@yahoo.com To: "Joni List" Sent: Sunday, May 17, 2015 5:26:52 AM Subject: Re: #2247 smoe nervous breakdown I particularly like this part: S0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0t LS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tL LOtS o LOve, Laura Sent from my iPhone ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 May 2015 21:22:20 -0400 From: "=?utf-8?B?Z3BrbTYyMDhAY29tY2FzdC5uZXQ=?=" Subject: =?utf-8?B?UmU6IEpNREwgRGlnZXN0IFYyMDE0ICMyMjQ3?= RGVhciBMaXN0ZXJzLCB0aGlzIGlzIGEgcGljIGZyb20gbXkgZnJpZW5kIEhlbnJ5IERpbHR6IChJ J20gc3VyZSB1IGFsbCBrbm93IHdobyBoZSBpcykuICBBbnl3YXksIHRoZSBzdWJqZWN0IGlzIEpv aG5ueSBSaXZlcnMgQlVULCBJIGFtIHRoaW5raW5nIHRoYXQgaXMgSm9uaSBvbiB0aGUgbGVmdC4g IEFueSBpZGVhcyBiZWZvcmUgSGVucnkgcmVzcG9uZHMgdG8gbXkgaW5xdWlyeT8gIFRoYW54LCBH ZXJyeSAKClNlbnQgZnJvbSBteSBIVEMKCi0tLS0tIFJlcGx5IG1lc3NhZ2UgLS0tLS0KRnJvbTog Ik1hcnkiIDxqb25pMmNpdHlAaG90bWFpbC5jb20+ClRvOiAiSk9OSU1JVENIRUxMIERJU0NVU1NJ T04gTElTVCIgPGpvbmlAc21vZS5vcmc+ClN1YmplY3Q6IEpNREwgRGlnZXN0IFYyMDE0ICMyMjQ3 CkRhdGU6IFNhdCwgTWF5IDE2LCAyMDE1IDEyOjUyIFBNCgpUaGFua3MgZm9yIHNoYXJpbmcsICBM YXVyYS4gTmljZSBwaG90by4gSGF2ZW4ndCBzZWVuIGJlZm9yZS4KCkdSRUVUSU5HUyBGUk9NIFRI RSBUUklQTEUgTSAgRG93biBhIGdyYXZlbCByb2FkLCB3aGVyZSB0aGUgYmFyYiB3aXJlCm1lZXRz IHRoZSBza3kuICAgICAgIE1BUlkgTS4gTU9SUklTCgoKCj4gRGF0ZTogU2F0LCAxNiBNYXkgMjAx NSAwMzowMDowNCAtMDQwMAo+IEZyb206IG93bmVyLWpvbmktZGlnZXN0QHNtb2Uub3JnCj4gVG86 IGpvbmktZGlnZXN0QHNtb2Uub3JnCj4gU3ViamVjdDogSk1ETCBEaWdlc3QgVjIwMTQgIzIyNDcK Pgo+Cj4gSk1ETCBEaWdlc3QgICAgICAgICBTYXR1cmRheSwgTWF5IDE2IDIwMTUgICAgICAgICBW b2x1bWUgMjAxNCA6IE51bWJlciAyMjQ3Cj4KPgo+Cj4gPT09PT09PT09PQo+Cj4gVE9QSUNTIGFu ZCBhdXRob3JzIGluIHRoaXMgRGlnZXN0Ogo+IC0tLS0tLS0tCj4gICBNY0NhYmVzIEd1aXRhciBT aG9wIFBob3RvICAgICAgICAgICAgIFsiTGF1cmEgTy4iCjxhcHRha2lzaWMxMDFAZ21haWwuY29t Pl0KPgo+IC0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0t LS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0KPgo+IERhdGU6IFdlZCwgMTMgTWF5IDIwMTUgMDg6MTc6MjIg LTA1MDAKPiBGcm9tOiAiTGF1cmEgTy4iIDxhcHRha2lzaWMxMDFAZ21haWwuY29tPgo+IFN1Ympl Y3Q6IE1jQ2FiZXMgR3VpdGFyIFNob3AgUGhvdG8KPgo+IE5pY2UgcGhvdG8gb2YgSm9uaSBhdCBN Y0NhYmVzIEd1aXRhciBTaG9wCj4KPiBodHRwczovL2luc3RhZ3JhbS5jb20vcC8xdGdrWGRQREd1 Lz90YWtlbi1ieT1tY2NhYmVzZ3VpdGFyc2hvcAo+Cj4gTGF1cmEKPgo+IC0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0t LS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLQo+Cj4gRW5kIG9mIEpNREwgRGlnZXN0IFYyMDE0ICMyMjQ3Cj4gKioq KioqKioqKioqKioqKioqKioqKioqKioqKioqCj4KPiAtLS0tLS0tCj4gVG8gcG9zdCBtZXNzYWdl cyB0byB0aGUgbGlzdCxzZW5kdG9qb25pQHNtb2Uub3JnLgo+IFVuc3Vic2NyaWJlIGJ5IGNsaWNr aW5nIGhlcmU6Cj4gbWFpbHRvOmpvbmktZGlnZXN0LXJlcXVlc3RAc21vZS5vcmc/Ym9keT11bnN1 YnNjcmliZQo+IC0tLS0tLS0= [demime 0.97c-p1 removed an attachment of type image/jpeg which had a name of =?utf-8?B?RkJfSU1HXzE0MzE4MjU0MDkzMTAuanBn?=] ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 May 2015 16:26:18 +0000 From: "Susan E. I agree in this case since we've never been able to attach photos in this listserv. However, servers do fail. Anyone who has had a hard drive fail knows that all too well. Servers are typically "heavier duty" but they don't last forever. Some "data geek" among us must have a list of everyone's email addresses. How up-to-date that list may be is anyone's guess but I know there have been JMDLers who have saved every digest and who have the earlier ones that don't show on http://www.smoe.org/lists/joni/ I'm just thinking ahead. We really should have a back up plan in place. Maybe we do and I just don't know about it?
