McNamara" Subject: Joni Covers Volume 219 - I don't talk much to anyone but you're a special case B Here comes the weekend, and along with it another FRESH collection of Joni covers, spanning the globe and the decades. Several unique entries this time around, like the ONLY cover of "Love Or Money" from the exquisite pipes of Ian Shaw, Blue Motel Room sung in Polish, Cactus Tree sung in Swedish. Also another nice effort by William Waddell on a rarely-covered song, River done by a cast of thousands, a double play by Tom Lum Forest, and Lorraine Scott's soulful BYT from the Ca...nadian "Back To The Garden" out of print CD. Mary Fahl (singer for October Project) released BSN in 2013, then recorded and released a live record last year with a live take. Not the first artist to do that, actually, many have. Beth Orton's cover of River, discussed earlier this week, closes out a fine set. Get well, Joan! https://www.yousendit.com/download/bXBieW4rZ2pZY1M1aWNUQw 1. Ian Shaw - Love Or Money 2. Lisa Wahlandt & Sven Faller with Walter Lang, Azhar Kamal, Andreas Dombert & Jan Eschke - River 3. Martha J. & Francesco Chebat - Both Sides Now 4. Martyna Jakubowicz - Blekitney Hotelowy Pokoj (Blue Motel Room/Polish) 5. Lorraine Scott - Big Yellow Taxi 6. Carol Kvande - Both Sides Now 7. Fifth Of Bourbon - Woodstock 8. Bill Nesbitt - Both Sides Now 9. William Waddell - Just Like This Train 10. Marie Chabot - River 11. Bow-Ty - The Circle Game 12. Tom Lum Forest - Woodstock 13. Tom Lum Forest - Free Man In Paris 14. Mary Fahl - Both Sides Now (Live) 15. Irma - Lotteri - (Cactus Tree/Swedish) 16. Jason Berk - Woodstock 17. Beth Orton - River 17 songs, 17 hits. Enjoy. Big news coming from me SOON. Bob NP: KC & The Sunshine Band, "Both Sides Now" (you cannot shake your booty to it) B From: Susan E. King has passed.B I immediately thought of the Bread and Roses performance from 1980 where Joni and B.B. traded songs. They played Coyote and The Thrill Is Gone.B Does a recording of this phenomenon exist anywhere? Driving to the office this morning, I was listening to James being interviewed by H. Stern (ironic? dichotic? odd, anyway). James had his acoustic guitar - amazing. The short of it is that, while James was recounting the Joni years, James mentioned (I paraphrase) that (regarding the recent "event"), "Joni had a 'scare', but is doing much, much bettter". Thought I should pass this along. James had some great Joni stories. Skip ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 May 2015 15:41:32 +0000 From: "Susan E.
