I prefer SAL myself but always good to see Joni getting positive press, especially these days: http://tinyurl.com/km9gd7n ***Joni Mitchell's first live album arrived at the peak of her fame. Recorded a couple months after her breakthrough Court and Spark debuted, the Canadian singer-songwriter documented the California stops on the tour supporting the new LP. Performing an expansive collection of tracks from her 1968 debut Song to a Seagull onward, Miles of Aisles carefully avoided the hits. "No one ever said to Van Gogh, 'Paint a "Starry Night" again, man," said Mitchell before playing "Circle Game." In 1991, she revealed to Rolling Stone why she made the comparison: "I never wanted to turn into a human jukebox. I haven't used up all my ideas yet. But I'm working in a pop field, and whether they're going to allow an older woman to do that is an open question. Hi Y'all, Thank you. I needed to read what each of you said. I agree with both. Although there isn't mutual exclusion, there has been wasted energy that could be put to better use. I love how the conversation goes on here as we wait, and Joni we will wait for you with love in times of trouble. You taught us Sisotowbell Lane and model for us outspokenness. These lyrics keep popping up in my soul of late: "Sometimes it is Spring, sometimes it is not anything, a poet can sing, sometimes we try, yes we always try." Yes, "somehow in spite of trouble ours will be ever lasting love." We are here because we love you Joni. You have brought a very interesting and strong group of loves together here. My partner Steph, who has always been very supportive of my passion for Joni's music, has started to have dreams about Joni and asks me every morning if there's any news. She is a very political animal and a great grower of flowers and vegetables. Even she is concerned and curious about Joni's well being as the weeks turn into a month. Whilst you were on your JMDL 'break', I shared a story about Steph and our visit to Ruby Lake in 2012 which was so 'her.' We were very blessed to share an evening with Joni at Ruby Lake in BC, organised by Joni's friends, the Cogrossi family. Having travelled all the way from the UK for the event we had a wonderful time. At the time of the supper, which was soon after Joni had arrived, the assembled folk started moving up for the wonderful barbecue of organic, wild sockeye salmon and prawns with salad. A group of us from JMDL were invited to join the queue for food. Steph said to me bI must go and get my camera to photograph this beautiful fare.b She was gone for some time and then rushed over and excitedly said bYou must come now, you must come now. Ibm with Jonib It transpired that Giorgio Cogrossi had grabbed Steph by the hand and introduced her to Joni, who was at her table. It was later that Steph told me that, on being introduced, she said ' Joni, I am so pleased to meet you, but my friend likes you more than I do' Joni laughed , Steph said 'I didn't mean it quite like that, but can I go and get her?' and Joni said yes, of course. So Steph grabbed me and we went back and then I had my few moments to give my most heart felt thanks to Joni. An event that I still struggle to remember, but I get odd glimpses from time to time! Anyway, that's Steph. Wouldn't ever be a member of JMDL, but very concerned with all her heart and curious to know what's happened to Joni, too Anita ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 2015 16:21:41 -0400 From: Bob.Muller@Fluor.com Subject: Re: Street singer? However, that may simply be a statement of legal reality. Joni wrote in "Chinese Cafe," "my child's a stranger." We know that's not true, in everyday parlance, after her reunion with Kilauren almost twenty years ago. However, in a strictly legal sense, after the adoption in the mid-1960s, Kilauren is NOT Joni's daughter, and would have no standing to be consulted in decisions about her care or to make them unless Joni specifically gave those rights to her. I'm going to refrain from commenting on this for a awhile, and will simply concentrate on wishing Joni, and all those who care about her from around the world, the very best. The situation was referred to as a "convervatorship," but seems similar to what I know as a guardianship, which is a relationship in which a court-appointed individual makes care decisions for someone *currently* unable to care for him- or herself, or make those decisions. And, as I mentioned, the TMZ piece apparently quoted sections of the documents, which refer to Joni's current condition. I haven't seen the documents myself. Not meaning to stir up the waters, but I remain concerned. My hope is that the articles I read were wrong, and that TMZ didn't quote any documents, but rather, made up its claims out of whole cloth. I don't want to propagate any more false information. Would that document be similar to various powers of attorney (for example, here in Ontario, there are powers of attorney for property - continuing or non-continuing; and for personal care)? It makes sense to have one of these in the event something happens to you where you are unable to make decisions: appoint someone now that you trust who, based on your wishes and your best interest, will act for you to ensure your bills are paid, your care is, um, taken care of and so on. Maybe Joni has realized that it's a good idea to do this now in case something happens later on where she's not able to choose and there's no one whom she trusts to do it for her. - ----- Original Message ----- From: Mary Pitassi To: joni@smoe.org Cc: Sent: Wednesday, April 29, 2015 8:32 AM Subject: RE: Joni Mitchell Reportedly Unresponsive, in a Coma To all: I'm glad our folks at jonimitchell.com provided us with additional information to counteract the TMZ story.
