My own personal experience which speaks to the idea of astral travel occurred about 6 months ago when I had a visitation from a friend who had passed a few years earlier. The dream was so vivid I was afraid to make a misstep and break the spell, scaring him away. I knew this was more than a dream. I consulted his wife the following week who was on the other side of the world in England on business. She admitted she rarely dreamed about him but had had the same experience on the very same night. I'm a believer! There was a magazine cover, the name of the mag started with a "G".B on the coverB was a teaser for a Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan article.B Under that title was a poem or lyrics with the first 8 lines or so bold and readable, then the rest of the lines of the poem or lyrics slowly faded out and unreadable. A few days ago I could remember the name of the magazine n my dream, today, I cannot.B Something like "Generosity", I do remember thinking in my dream, "I did not know they published a magazine." Applause, applause! I especially liked this: "Have we reached peak garbage yet? Maybe our brains are at last so saturated in nonsense that we can finally stop entertaining ourselves to death and start to have conversations about things that matter. Joni Mitchell is no real housewife, no fame whore kindling notoriety into headlines because talent was just too elusive." Kakki > ... she's already given me so much. Man, I love Bluegrass, especially Alison Krauss and Union Station, like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYhlXdxbAXc Does anyone know if Alison has ever covered a Joni song? Alison shares Joni's traits of a pure voice and instrumental prowess. But not so much in song writing. No one tops Joni in song writing. Also, Chet Atkins is a country guitar virtuoso and covered "Both Sides Now" really well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4Ei6mIaTTA Steve From: JMDL Digest To: joni-digest@smoe.org Sent: Monday, April 20, 2015 7:17 AM Subject: JMDL Digest V2014 #2056 JMDL DigestB B B B Monday, April 20 2015B B B B Volume 2014 : Number 2056 ========== TOPICS and authors in this Digest: - -------- B Country music, Randy Travis (njc)B B [Jeff Clark ] - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 20 Apr 2015 14:14:26 +0000 (UTC) From: Jeff Clark Subject: Country music, Randy Travis (njc) Watched the first hour of the Country music awards show last night. Its so high-octane, a true spectacle. My sis lives in Nashville and they mostly like country music. I wonder how much overlap there is from Joni people and country. Theres no matching Jonis complex imagery and metaphor and story telling qualities, but I do enjoy a simpler country song sometimes. Not "Tequila Makes her Clothes Come Off" or "All My Horses Like Beer", etc. Not a fan of Toby Keith. But Chris Young has some good songs ("Voices"), Keith Urban ("Making Memories of Us"), Brooks and Dunn can really belt out "My Maria" a great karaoke song and Martina McBride has a great voice. It was great to see Randy Travis. "Storms of Life" was a great album. Probably would have watched the whole thing but seasonal allergies and meds had me checking into "Dreamland" early.JeffI think I need more adjectives than "great" - ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2014 #2056 ****************************** - ------- To post messages to the list,sendtojoni@smoe.org.
