Almost all Joni songs are underrated. Odd that they would include FMIP (Free Man in Paris) as its one of her most well-known songs. Well, there's a ton of stuff out there. Recenlty there was talk of an Uncut magazine article that had 30 well known artists picking their favorite tunes, I'm not sure where that is at. Bob is right that Les must do a lot of work to keep this going and must need our support. I would have paid a lot of money to have access to these clips and unreleased material back in the day. Bob M, and a few others, were quite generous with their time burning cd's and tapes for people before everything was on youtube.B Jeff ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Apr 2015 16:47:36 +0000 (UTC) From: Bob Muller Subject: Re: Joni Server down It's up now -B it was not this morning. Les works very hard behind the scenes and deserves our support. I just put a tip in his tip jar and encourage y'all to do the same. Someone at a Jonifest said, "Joni lets the guitar do the work," and they're partly right. The songs are easier to play than they sound, once you get the tuning set (I need a tuner). Another thing I did was learn to use my right thumb just on the lowest string, the index finger on the fifth string, then the other fingers on the remaining four strings. I then found it easier to play songs with the "shuffle" feel, like Cherokee Louise. I got used to that, and now I have a harder time playing songs like Urge for Going, Mike from Mtns., etc that require precise finger picking. I really think most people could play Joni guitar by putting in a reasonable amount of effort. Piano, I don't know. I want to learn some, but don't know how/where to begin. I have not seen much activity today on the Jmdl, so I will share that I had Another joni dream, last night. I was with three friends and we were hanging out with joni at Joni's house for 3 or so days. . . . Just being ourselves and doing whatever. I had this *small banana . . . . I had it in my hand and the small banana turned into a *little bunny (natural brown color)! Joni (about 40 years old) came and took the bunny, did not say anything and walked gently into her bedroom side of the house. She was retreating for a while with no explanation. It was very natural that she was leaving our presence for a while with out saying goodbye. . . Just a simple walking away. We went about our time as if she would appear later. There was also a bathroom scene, at one time, during this dream. I mention the bathroom because I once had a joni dream a few years ago with a bathroom with and a mop and a bathtub filled with water, I think. This dream last night, I saw the sink and the bathroom floor. Joni do you hear me? I am with you, we are with you, you are very important to us. Waiting for a word . . . And wondering. With love and care.
