The actual link is before the "?", i.e. http://jezebel.com/real-delusions-of-an-unreal-disease-a-history-of-morge-1696912437 In any case, a link, even a long one, should not break in a mail. If it does, it's mostly due to the fact that the sender is using HTML-formatted mail which is then converted to plain-text by the list server. If you set your mail client to use plain-text as the default format then links will work and there is no need to use a link-shortener or such. @Mark: You are using Windows Live Mail - the settings for this are in Options -> Send -> Mail Sending Format. moni k. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Apr 2015 10:40:58 -0400 From: Barbara Sullivan Subject: RE: Jezebel weighs in on Morgellons and also on Joni While I studied Occupational Therapy, a fellow female student suffered from RDS, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome, she was hospitalized and in extreme pain when anything touched her skin, it lasted several months. Thank you for that Scientific American article of intelligence. I marked that and am going to try to print the whole thing out this w/end. I enjoy reading stuff like that. Its sad to see people leaving the list. I was thinking today how a Joni list softball team would do against David Crosby's lists team. I was guessing they would run out of breath sooner and we would cream them. They may also not be cast in stone. We are all also full of contradictions and even though Joni has excellent friends she must marvel at their contradictions as she is blinded to her own perhaps. At such times her dog may seem to be her greatest blessing. Somewhere in Malka's book Joni speaks of going it alone and thus having no support system when things go wrong. "Wrong" probably not referring to something like this illness-I imagine that Kilauren and her grandchildren are of huge comfort to Joni. I do think that life could be more happy organized through some more sane system. If technology can take over your job it should be a reason to celebrate. People could find more passion and meaning and purpose in life if they're twiddling their thumbs and being directed by their own souls. Einstein said something to the effect that real intellectual contribution happens in such an environment. I do wish that Joni wil always retain her wealth and her property and her property rights. I do wish too that people were living in a more meaningful way and being more playful and creative and solving problems truly relevant to themselves. We are very distracted from our creativity hustling and bustling about. I do not think that people are senselessly engaged if that are not kept"busy". We live with the internet which is an accomplishment of scientific thought and labour of all kinds. We could be voting on a daily basis. There could be far more accomplished from idleness and creativity and connectivity than through an outmoded system of trying to procure cash because it is the essential enabling substance . I am not deliberately being boring. I wish people were not so distracted. That's all... for now. Anyway, get well Joni. It is wonderful that Malka is trusted by Joni and had access to the thoughts in her book. They are most entertaining. It is a most interesting read, and not laden with the derisory cruelty of many of the articles about Morgellons. If people don't know about her, I would suggest reading Vidyamala Burch, especially her book "Living Well With Pain and Illness", which considers the origins of pain, suffering and how we all manage it in our lives better than anything I know of.
