OK, so I see that not everyone is getting spring but we are here in SC so that works for me. Wherever you are, stay comfy and safe. Anyhoo, let's get it on with some amazing new JONI COVERS, Volume 212 in the series that just will not die, no matter how many wishes and prayers get said. Ian Shaw starts things with a killer take on HiH, Polly Gibbons jazzy update on All I Want is some great ear candy, and Martyna's Polish-language Circle Game is certainly not something you hear every day. Bob NP: Martyna Jakubowicz - Kolko Graniaste (The Circle Game/Polish) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Mar 2015 17:05:24 +0000 From: c Karma Subject: The Power of Music (SJC) Rebroadcast this week was an hour long episode of Radiolab that had three wonderful stories about music. One of them reflects slightly back to Joni in discussing the relationship between Beethoven and the invention of the metronome; remember the "Metronomi" anecdote she told on the BSN tour? Well, it seems that Ludwig may have designed his compositions to take musicians and listeners out of their comfort zone. This theory suggested by his later application of specific meter to his scores, most of which have been ignored by conductors and music students. This is a compelling listen. Another story discusses the Crossroads legend and Robert Johnson...fascinating and eerie. http://www.radiolab.org/story/power-music/ CC "You've got to shake your fists at lightning, now."-- CC ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2014 #554 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here:mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe
