Thanks for posting this Malka. I relate to the experience of admiring Joni more and more as I age. Her art is like a fine wine. "Great art," as Ishiguro describes Hejira and Blue, is often slow to get acknowledged, and I love seeing it happen now with Joni's music. Your book is definitely filled with "quiet revelations" and contributes to my increasing admiration for Joni. Thank you! I hope someday I can meet you and get my copy signed. Albums like bHejirab and bBlueb now sound undeniably like great art, and donbt lean one bit on nostalgia to do so. But shebs always been an enigma to me, and Ibm hoping this book will be full of quiet revelations." o?< Like B7 > On Mar 6, 2015 Sent from my iPhone ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Mar 2015 14:38:27 -0500 From: Bob.Muller@Fluor.com Subject: Re: R.I.P. I believe Joni Mitchell is one of the most original and important composers of her era, and I believe her music will live on and be the stuff of much research and repeated performances. Knowing her full body of work, from her first songs, like Day After Day, to her more mature works (some still not even imagined by her) will be something people will enjoy studying, performing and listening to for a long, long time. Whether she decides to release these works in the near future is her business, but I wish she would (for my own selfish pleasure, I guess). As a big fan of his work, I found it fascinating. I'm sure he never imagined that anyone would see any value in it. Now they've unearthed some unpublished work of his (perhaps just some things that were refined and released) that will be published soon. Was exciting news to his hordes of fans. Just to be clear, I TOTALLY respect Joni wanting complete control of her work. At the same time I can't help but be fascinated by the Pandora's Box full of stuff that's out there.
