I'm speechless... Joni is so incredibly interesting!!! B She gives words to what is a challenge to express. B She paints a picture of concepts, and I can see. B My heart is full of gratitude. I need some help here... She talks about clothes and mentions a designer who has a clothing line that is B timeless and interchangeable like her music, a Japanese guy. B Who is this guy? I would love to see Joni create clothing. B She is so cool. I love the last question she answers about relationships and exploitation and narcissism and "undervaluing." B And it really isn't the fault of the men but the fault of the men who raised the men who raised the men, etc. B John Lennon's plea always comes to my mind when I think of this topic. B Buying some peace here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5lMxWWK218 Thank you Joni for being yourself and for being a role model for me in so many ways. Don't know if there will be another, but I have learned to NEVER say never. I did got to a bunch of the ones in the NE. I also attended Hejira Fest as well as Idylwild. And so many mini fests. Sorry to folk I have forgotten. There must have been loads more than 37 tributes to her work. I wonder what her criteria is, Anita > On 15 Feb 2015, at 14:22, Susan E. McNamara" Subject: RE: Joni, Clothes and Conversation Issey Miyake ... a Japanese fashion designer. Most of his outfits apply his signature pleats ... There are many photos of her wearing his gowns during her Both Sides Now tour in 2000. She also wore the same outfit twice this year (another LA faux paux which I'm sure she hardly cares about) at the Hammer Museum event and at the Grammy party. She wore a brown jacket of his to the Tavis Smiley interview, and you could hear it crinkle every time she moved her arm! Forever your listener,Laura ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Feb 2015 23:06:05 +0000 (UTC) From: Jeff Clark Subject: Joni and Hockney I haven't read this latest interview yet, but I recall Joni mentioning him (David Hockney) in the past and how she feels he and her, as outsiders (she from Canada, he from England) are able to capture the zeitgeist (my words, not hers) of a certain time and place that a native or local might not have perspective on. His paintings of Palm Springs and swimming pools and the sense of privileged ennui they evoke are the perfect visual counterpart to a song like HOSL. As far as Coltrane goes, I recall her saying in the past that she greatly prefers Shorter on sax, that she dosen't consider Coltrane particularly innovative, and she's all about innovation. I love Coltrane.Jeff ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Feb 2015 09:05:49 -0800 From: Dave Blackburn Subject: Re: Joni interview on KCRW broadcast/streamed on Friday Man, Ibd love the opportunity. > On Feb 13, 2015, at 8:51 AM, Susan E.
