After making years and years of making fun of them old folkies playing stringed thingys (some of them on this list!!) for so long I decided to purchase a mountain dulcimer from a man who is handmaking them in Arkansas. My friend Jo Ann gave one to her son for Christmas and it was such a beautiful piece I decided to get one. Hand made for under $150 with a free instructions, some tabs, tuner, picks, an extra set of strings, humidity gauge, string-winder, lubricant, some extra nut and saddle, and 2 noters (wooden thingys to fret with). Did I mention this included shipping? I am blown away with this instrument. Now if I can only learn to make music with it. It is not as easy as it looks and of course instead of trying Twinkle Twinkle or something I dove right into A Case of You from the new Joni songbook. I have been digging around in the tabs on jm.com and found some of Howard Wrights work so hopefully I will get up and running on this thing. Chuck and Steve how come you guys don't have dulcimer tabs up on the site for us newbies? Hats off and glasses raised to the folkies ya'll!!! Love Paz P.S> This is my treat for not being able to go to the NAMM show in Orange County this year.... ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Jan 2015 16:42:43 -0500 From: Bob.Muller@Fluor.com Subject: Re: Colvin Endears - Mitchell Has Cameo Cool - thanks for the note. I don't she did ANY in the Gene Autry show in January of that year. It seems like she was doing Facelift a lot that year in misc appearances. She did that historical Jazz & Heritage Festival in that year too...don't remember any TI songs. She is nothing but unpredictable which is one of the reasons why she is so awesome. "Will you take me as I am. Calfornia-Joni Mitchell." The main character is hiking the PCT as a way to rid herself of life demons & every stop along the way, she enters a line of poetry or some such from various authors. I believe the story is supposed to have taken place during the 1970's. No cell phones, just handwriting things in a trail journal that are left for others to read. The article, as posted in the JM.com Library is incorrectly dated as Dec. 5, 1995. This original L.A. Times article, as posted on their WebSite, is dated Dec. 5, 1994, and refers to a concert the previous Saturday. Dec. 5, 1994 was a Monday. The previous Saturday was Dec. 3rd. I DO strive for accuracy.
