Because it's on the same album as "River"? Because Elvis had a hit with "Blue Christmas"? If "Blue" is a Christmas song then EVERY song is a Christmas song. Or did you mean to say "River"? Most don't listen like they "used to" - but - for instance, I spent a long time in the mastering studio on "Songs of Shadow" with the engineer breathing between songs. Listening to the exact nano-second when the next tune should start. People listen on "shuffle" now or just buy one song off the record on iTunes, but, those of us who still make "records" spend an inordinate amount of time doing this. No doubt Joni did, too. The whole point of her latest release is to listen straight through and those rests add to the drama and how each next song is presented. One reason I never read anything on HuffPoo is that they have all those autoplay videos I spend more time to try to mute or pause than it takes to read their content. moni k. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Dec 2014 00:11:09 -0500 From: Timmy D Subject: Re: onlyJMDL Digest V2014 #419 Finished Nash's Wild Tales. Though I thought he was generally kind to Joni, I have to question the appropriateness of his recall. Before I read I thought him a more humble man. And for someone who's written some good songs, his narrative wasn't all that stimulating. Reading In Her Own Words now. Enjoying.
