I updated our database today to include new BSN covers by Shanti (Japan) and a live recording releasing next week from Mary Fahl (from New York, formerly of the band October Project). Mary had previously released a studio version of it last year. It will be awhile before another Joni song hits the 4-digit mark. River is a solid #2 with 422 covers and counting (especially this time of year). A lot of that detail has been out there - Joni tells the Carey story in most of the '72 concert bootlegs where she plays the song but it was great to hear both perspectives and be able to decipher the entire song. In the MOA version, she does sing the "sea is full of sheep", yes?
