Some new revelations to me from both of them. I think Jeff may be right when he guesses this might be one of the "vignettes" that Joni has been working on for awhile now. She also mentioned at the Hammer birthday party that she has been writing her "short stories." This is great stuff and I hope we will see them all published soon. No One Really Saw It Until Now http://www.upworthy.com/in-125-years-millions-of-people-have-looked-at-this- painting-no-one-really-saw-it-until-now I know Van Gogh was a genius. If the point of this were "Van Gogh was a mad genius," I would not be sharing this with you. Van Gogh was a pretty cool artist (duh), but as it turns out... HE WAS ALSO A SCIENTIST! * ...he was able to capture one of science's most elusive concepts: TURBULENCE~* Although it's hard to understand with math (like, REALLY HARD), it turns out that art makes it easy to depict how it LOOKS. So what is turbulence? Turbulence, or turbulent flow, is a concept of fluid dynamics where fluid movements are "self-similar" when theres an energy cascade so basically, big eddies make smaller eddies, and those make even smaller ones ... and so on and so forth. PLEASE CLICK ARTICLE ABOVE and be sure to watch the U-tube video at the end. I wish Joni could see this!! MAYBE JONI IS A SCIENTIST TOO!! Turbulent BLUE LOL Have a Grrr8...phenomenal Joni day! BARBEARUH ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Nov 2014 21:16:12 +0000 (UTC) From: Bob Muller Subject: Midnight Cowboy Joni was hanging out with John Schlesinger, the director of Midnight Cowboy, at the time (1969). He really liked Fred Neil's "Everybody's Talkin'" and asked her and Nilsson and others to write a song for the film. Nilsson wrote "I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City", Joni wrote "Midnight Cowboy", I've read that Dylan contributed "Lay Lady Lay", not sure that that is true. Schlesinger ended up not using any of them in the film, but he did have Harry Nilsson sing the Fred Neil song and Harry had a hit with it. Joni's demo tape of the song ended up in the hands of folksinger Donal Leace who recorded it on his 1972 self-titled album, produced by Roberta Flack. I had some email correspondence with Mr. Leace long ago, he stated that he still had that demo tape. Sure would love to hear it! Midnight Cowboy is my #1 film of all time. It was Bob Murphy's as well. Bob NP: Lara Puglia, "All I Want" B From: Laura O. Dec. 7th , 7:00PM @ Soho Restaurant and Music Club, www.sohosb.com Santa Barbara, CA. This will be this stellar bands premier performance of her music. Blue was the sound track to my high school years and probably why I went on to become a professional musician. So this opportunity is very exciting for me. I'll hopefully be posting some links to recordings underway in the studio soon. If you're in our area I hope you join us and let me know that you learned about it from this post.
